I think I'm running them with Shimano adaptors. However, they also have a small spacer under them since the rotors are 203 and the adaptor is +20. No issues with that.

Man, wifey would love that. However, it might be a while till she's back on a bike.

Stock Evil matte paint does not age well. This is my 5 year old Calling. I stripped it down and sent it to Cleveland Carbon for a repaint to Lunar Rock (gloss). It came back yesterday and built it up last night.

I just got back from there last week. Check out The Railyard in nearby Rogers next time.

That last picture at the bottom of Thunderdome is very deceiving. It took some convincing to get my 7 year old to go down that ramp. It's steeper than it looks.

    Holy crap, start 6hr!
I haven't done a real xc race in 25 years, and that was just a few laps.
But, I agree all my long(30-60mile) road rides the biggest thing is planning food/h2o before and during to not bonk.

Ouch, sorry to hear about that.
My knee injury ended up costing 3 years of riding due to reinjuring it trying to get back to soon.

I'll be there on a 4 man team. You can hang out with us during breaks between laps.
But yea, it will be more endurance than XC at that point.
I could be convinced to do the Bear up in Denver on April 1st if you want to do an XC race. I did 1 lap of it last year and tasted metal by the end. It was essentially a sprint the entire time, which I won't be doing at Royal Gorge. There are also those Moonrise races that should be announced soon.

If you do wanna do 6/12 hours at the gorge, time in the saddle is crucial. I'm gonna have to do some long days on my hard tail going into April to be ready for the gorge.

There also the royal gorge groove https://www.aravaiparides.com/royal-gorge-groove/ that is shorter if you wanted a real XC race.

    Yeah.
Pretty sure I was at that one as well! Can't remember which one it was, but it rained hard all night after the race and I woke up floating on my air mattress in my tent. That was what convinced me to go the RTT route.

They faltered a bit when they had the government shutdowns due to unapproved budgets, although some people went down there anyway and did an unofficial run from the boat ramp that was still accessible. Looks like it's back on, there's one coming up on April 15.

It depends really. Most of the cost is in the labor of stripping the old paint off the bike to raw carbon. I was quoted anything from $200 to >$1k for some fancy multi-color paint jobs. You can also opt for some additional work like film application after the paint that adds cost. I toyed around with the idea of having the painter (he also fixes carbon fiber) remove all the cable holes in the frame since I run AXS but decided against it.

I have another, even older Evil, with paint in worse condition than the Calling. I may try going rattle can with that using paint from: https://spraybike.us/

If you don't mind sharing, what was the OTD cost for your paint job? I would assuming shipping both ways is also on the customer?

The company is Cleveland Carbon (Pat Hanlon).

OTD cost was about $800 (which includes the shipping cost back to me). Outbound and disassembly, including the removal of the frame bearings was done by me. He can do all the disassembly for additional cost but you'll have to add the cost for shipping an entire bike which is not cheap, even when using bikeflights.com. Shipping the disassembled frame was relatively inexpensive (maybe $30 IIRC). I used a wheelset box to ship the frame.

Extras that I paid was the film protection.

Don't forget to factor in the cost of those additional items that you may want to install on the bike with the new color. For example, since I was switching to Lunar Rock from Angry Dolphin, my old light blue PNW Loam grips had to go (I switched to grey). Also, if you need bearings, now would be a good time to buy and install new bearings. If you don't do your own suspension work, it would also be a perfect time to send out your fork/shock for a rebuild since the bike parts will be off the bike and sitting for a while. Since the painter more than likely also has a day job and a life, it can take a couple of months to get the bike back.

Now I want a Scout even more,
    Really like that Blue!
    But already sold out.

I love that! 9/10 people would've used that as an excuse for a new bike but if it ain't broke don't fix it! Looks great

I'm sure he has a vinyl cutter. Better yet, he can probably do decals via paint masking. I like my Evils to not have any branding for some reason so I opted for no decals to give it the prototype look.

DHR for grip, but the Dissector is faster rolling - so after the race you wont have an anchor hanging off the back for general riding.

I'm noticing a trend in the industry that manufacturers are moving away from "wild colors" and matte finishes. Is it just me?

I agree on the move away from bright colors. I think the matte finish is still fairly common though, on some brands. Specialized has that gold color (like Nukeproof above) for '23 and they also have a brown satin. I wasn't a huge fan of either. I like the brighter blues that was popular for a while. My buddy has a cyan Yeti and I think it looks amazing.
