I like my truck, I normally don't read clickbait "ratings" shit. Who cares? The troll? Not me.

Tacomas are reliable, just have to deal with a few $$$$ repairs before 100k.

This is what happens when we let advertisers decide what content becomes "articles" . The internet and websites need money to operate, but we all decided we should get our information for free. Since we're not paying they have to get revenue from somewhere so they go with these articles that are specifically tailored to drive knee-jerk reactions. As soon as you click the link it's doing the job it was designed to do. That's it.. forget about the content of the article, all they need is a catchy headline

Instead of appealing to you on an intellectual basis they tap into your anger and reactive tendencies. Just like ringing a cash register.

Imagine what the internet could be like if everyone agreed to pay 1 penny per hour to use Google or other search engines. It wouldn't completely solve the problem but it may be a step in the right direction.

I'd much rather take my chances with a TACO with tried and true engineering than with a new turbo engine in the GM stuff. Nissan would be a close second for me, but resale value carries the day as well for the TACO. Ford products? Not even going there. BAD experiences with those.

Funny, it's just Ford stuff in the last couple of decades really that I've had serious issues with. In the early 80's, I had a yellow Ford Escort manual (used). My wife and I bought it in Charleston when I was on my first ship in the Navy and we were DIRT poor. We drove the shit out of that car and couldn't kill it. I think we put 120,000 miles on it and it was still running great. Original clutch. I taught my wife how to drive manual in that car too. UGLY car (lol) but OMG was it dependable when I really needed it.

My dream Toyota is a either a 4runner with the GX460 powertrain or a GX460 with a roll down rear window. Gas mileage be damned.

Funny you should mention that 2 worst car experiences in my life. A used VW Passat and my mom's new Ford Windstar.
Both were absolute trash and my poor mom was left stranded on multiple occasions.

Tell me about it! I had bought a brand new base model 2.slow Jetta in 2015 ish as a city runaround.... that pos left me stranded so many times mostly due to electrical components just deciding to up and die. Starter, coils, ignition wiring, door locks (!!) left me unable to get into my car several times.

Made the mistake of using it for a far drive out cause it fit multiple people better, and the engine oil pan decided to attempt separation from the engine block mid-drive and that was all she wrote.

Never experienced watching a brand new vehicle disintegrate in real time over barely a few years, and I really kept up with maintenance and always used OEM parts on it.... I was actually glad to see it get what it deserved.

I had a company 350 that suddenly shut down on the interstate in the middle of nowhere. Lets just say I'm glad that the tow bill was on the company card. Turns out, a small grounding wire broke loose, got wrapped up in the radiator fan, and when that got pulled it killed the whole engine. o_Oo_O

In a way, I'm impressed that this was even a possibility.

I think it's a breakfast drive-thru place. At least that would be something useful.

If Toyota made a larger truck it probably wouldn't be any better than the what the big 3 puts out. I can't recall anyone saying they would prefer a Hino over a Freightliner or International, and all 3 of those makes can be unreliable or get 20 to 30 years out of them with plenty of maintenance. The AC compressor in my Tacoma sound like it's getting ready to become a problem. I barely use the AC and it's not even at 36k miles 10 years old but not even 36k miles. I know things wear out due to age, and it's only the AC, but come on Toyota. I don't think Ford puts out a great product, and I'll drive them but they do put out a lot of fleet vehicles that get abused and keep rolling, they also built that Fusion which I think every vehicles from that gen has since been recalled recently.
