Ideally with the three Highlanders and the new Sequoia and the new Prado, the 4Runner will be dropped down and be more competitive with actual utilitarian vehicles.

    Ideally...

We thought the same with the hybrid tundra and fuel economy is almost identical lol

Toyota really should come out with something that is “basic” for like $30k

I thought I had seen a highway test where some guy got mid-20s.

But, better potential fuel economy does not guarantee better fuel economy. It's going to come down to driving style.

If we get a turbo 4 Cylinder, there's definitely a potential for better fuel economy. But, a lot of people will get the same or maybe even worse because they will drive it like idiots.

I got 19.9 in my tundra on one trip.

I think most people are seeing 17-19 but towing is still like 10.

I’m surprised it’s taking this long to get ones with built in batteries. Seems like a no brainer to me.

you could put a flat lithium at the base and get a ton of capacity

Not quite... but it was under .50 cents a gallon. :)
The tank held almost 25 gallons!

As long as the batteries are serviceable, definitely seems like a good idea!

I have some reservations about this one:

    1. Anker is a big company. There is no f'ing reason they should be doing a Kickstarter. Anyone who contributes is a dummy.
    2. Anker owns Eufy and lied to customers about privacy. Read more here , they are kind of a scumbag company now. Good luck if you put their app on your phone. Has a 12V cooler ever stolen someone's identity before? Might be a first.
    3. Pairing a battery into the same form factor as the fridge itself is neat for an all-in-one solution, however then you are locked into that system. Cool for portability and ease of use, bad for being stuck with that form factor. Not really a knock, just something to be aware of so your ass don't get chapped later when you're stuck with it.
    4. It's only a 299Wh battery and no specs on what is actually inside. Probably cylindrical cells because they are cheap, maybe if you get lucky they are updated pouch cells.
    5. No confirmation in the specs about voltage but assuming 12V that is only 24Ah. Not bad really, but I can confirm my ICECO on a hot day chewed through that much power in 24 hours. Their quoted runtimes seem reasonable but I think they are skewed towards ideal ambient temps and not extremes.
    6. 3 year warranty on the compressor which is less than other brands.
    7. Doesn't look like they have any vehicle mounts/slide racks yet so securing it for offroading could get interesting with those attached wheels. And...
    8. Those wheels don't look all that robust but maybe unfair to say given the limited photos. But something to consider since these will get heavy when fully loaded and tiny plastic wheels will be the first thing to break (looking at you, first revision Milwaukee pack out cart...).

All that said, it's a cool idea and I sincerely hope it succeeds so that fridge manufacturers continue to innovate instead of sticking with stale products. The dual zone 53 is an intriguing option.

Anyone from central Wisconsin recommend a good body shop to paint some new factory Toyota fenders I have,
I'm about an hour away from Madison, Fond du lac and Point, so anyone of them cities would work.

I called Ball Body shop and they won't do any non collision work.

That's odd. I've been very happy with Sparkle auto body on East Washington Avenue in Madison. Everything I've ever had done was flawless.

oh im not buying one.. I just think its nice that its finally happening and will push the other manufacturers to do more

kickstarter definitely inst what it used to be and big companies have started to use it to presale (crowdfund) whatever their new product is. They also get move visibility, marketing etc by running it through kickstarter...even though they dont need it.

yeah they are cheap cells and not lithium.

I dont think it's aimed at the overland crowd. more the beach goers or families going to sportsball - hence the wheels and other stuff no one here really cares about

im just over here waiting for dometic, arb, national luna, snow master, etc to finally come out with their version.
