Hi everyone, I tried swapping out my rad bushings today, specifically the driver side but when I went to lift the frame it felt like it was getting caught on something so I stopped. I managed to get the oem one out and it was torn…bought these Energy Suspension part #9.4101G and I couldn’t lift the frame high enough to get the top puck to fit…has anyone else had a similar experience?

I recall being uncomfortable how much I had to lift the front of the core support to get the new ones in. A light coat of grease will help the new bushings slide in.

It's been a long time since I did this but I definitely remember some prying/cussing/beering going on.

Thank you guys, guess I’ll keep prying and jacking it up. I saw a YouTube video and the guy made it look so easy, granted it was on a 2nd gen but still. What bushings are you guys running? OEM?

I used whatever version of the Energy Suspension listed below fit my 2010. I did lube it up with 303 to help it slide in a bit easier.

I received new replacement bolt a few days ago, and tonight I finally got around to replace the passenger side. I cut it out with a sawzall! New bushing lined up and went in much smoother than driver side.

So, tried installing the universal kit yesterday afternoon… Did not go well.

I loosened both sides and used a block of wood and the bottle jack to lift the body. Started on the DS and got the old bushing out and inserted thicker puck bushing and washer - No issues.

Went to drop the bolt in and it didn’t line up. Pulled, pushed, pried, and cussed and finally got it to drop down a little.

Success! So I thought… I went to insert the inner sleeve and lower bushing and the inner sleeve does not fit in the upper bushing! Double check the set that was supposed to go in the passenger side and nope… Not even close!

I think Energy may have supplied the inner sleeve for the truck specific bushings in my universal kit.

Moral of the story, double check everything fits together out of the box before trying to install!

By doing the install as you have suggested, did you have any issues with the hood sitting to high? If so how can bring the hood down to sit flush when it was with the OEM radiator mounts?

Hey Blktac'12, I did the E.S. universal radiator bushings as well. I tried to adjust the rubber bumpers on the hood but couldn't get it to drop down enough, even took them both out and no luck. I realized the hood lock/ latch was preventing it from going down. I adjusted the latch down and all is good.

For Sale a set of the Universal bushings. I'd like to get $20 for local pickup in HB CA or an extra $10 give or take a few depending on where I need to ship? I no longer have the Tacoma so no need for these.

I installed the universal isolator 9.4101 to replace my completely seized/disintegrated stock ones the other day. I was a bit shocked at how bad they could get. Had to use an extension to whack one of them out. I used one of the front cab body mount bolts (52217-04040) and accompanying nut (90177-A0012) I ordered to replace the mangled and rusted old bolt. I would have used the other one too but for whatever reason the holes in the body appeared to be different sizes and I had to reuse the better of the two original bolts which fit loosely in the new energy suspension sleeve. Anybody else have a similar experience? I am considering going back in and drilling out the body hole larger to fit a new larger diameter bolt like I was able to use on the passenger side.

This was one of my fun 200k miles celebration maintenance things.

You have an Amazon link by chance for the radiator support mounts?

I just ordered from Energy Suspension directly, their shipping doesn't take long and their customer service is great.
