Reinstall swaybar for service?

I removed the swaybar about two thousand miles ago and haven’t looked back. Tomorrow I’m taking her in for her first service, should I reinstall it before the service? I know that I won’t loose my warranty but I will they complain that I’m prematurely wearing the front suspension component? Basically, has anyone had warranty work denied for not having a swaybar?

Unless you’re having them address a warranty type repair in any area remotely related, I’d guess not. But, you never know when the overzealous may want to add notes to your vehicle, should something related pop up down the road.

 

Lol the sway bar only prevents...sway. it has no mechanical function whatsoever and is not a subsystem of anything.
If you went in complaining about your ride comfort, then yes, put it on. Anything else? Nope.

 

I doubt the oil jockey will even notice. Leave it off. They've seen worse. Far worse.

 

Off topic . Stock no lift ? How’s the ride. What’s the difference .

 

Of bigger concern would be your insurance company finding out. Not sure how they would though.

I tried it on stock suspension for a Saturday. I hated it, it was just a hair loose in the corners. That made me resist taking it off for the longest time after I got 6112s. Then, on a lark, I recently took it off again. On the 6112s it's fantastic -they are actually hindered by the sway bar. On the Sport Hitachis, no thanks.

That was just me though.

 

Any way to quickly pin it up to give it a try?

Second question, tried a hard sudden turn? How well did it respond? Rollover would be my concern

 

It will roll easier at speed. Physics don't lie. However, in the rocks, it will give you better articulation and not roll easier.

 

There's not a safe way to pin it without risking punching a boot or a shock. I'd just take it off. It's an easy unbolt, so long as you are good with removing the skid first.

I tow my little camper, so I'm extra careful about toying with the suspension. On the stock, I really didn't like how it heaved into the corners. Its one of those that feels ok until it suddenly isn't. I only tried it for a day, granted. Other's experience may vary. But I didn't like it, too squirrelly under heavy maneuvers.

On the 6112s, different story. It still nosedives under a heavy wheel yank, but it's much more forgiving. I feel much more confident. Enough that I even started towing without it.

I'm more interested in how well the 6112s respond since this is where their digressive valving may make up for it

 

If you're on 6112s, try it for the weekend. You'll fall in love with the shock all over again - I find myself aiming for potholes on my morning commute like a dang kid with a new pair of rain boots. It really makes it a fun truck to drive.

6112s up front but stock in back still, I really need to fix that....

 

I took mine in for 10k mi oil change, without the swaybar. Nothing was noted ot said.

But there is a difference between initial roll and the maximum amount of roll in any situation, in a rollover situation it is the initial roll that is of big concern. The roll bar will limit the max amount of roll as the torsion on the bar builds up, it does not however do much initially. A digressive shock like the 6112 however can initially slow the rate of roll, aka in a sudden movement. A good shock can (and does) assist in how fast roll happens in fast transitions, which is what is happening in an emergency situation.

 

I have the 6112's and I think about removing the sway bar but every time I end up on CA 74 I remember why this truck has a sway bar.

 

I'll never be ceased to be amazed that the aftermarket backyard mechanics think they know better than the actual engineers who design suspensions (Along with other things)...

 

So you are saying that the engineer who had to meet a wide variety of demands, and use only a specific quality of components, and designed a vehicle for a wide variety of users and use cases; did so perfectly for my specific use case?

Who is this no named engineer who never met me that designed it exactly for me.
