Im still on the fence. Dont need it, but it qualifies as antique so i could get it, pay $50 registration, and never have to do anything to it..

The maths tells me that it spent 13 years in New England, so the rot has already begun although I must say that I'd be happy if I only had that much frame rust to deal with on mine.

The ad says 'best offer over the listed price', so it sounds like they are playing the auction game. It looks decent enough overall, I like that it doesn't have a sunroof. ( extra headroom if you are tall).

Check that frame! Rear upper shock mounts are notorious for rotting away and they are a massive PIA and expensive to replace properly. The rear lower control arm mounts on the frame are the next place to look.

I got my crusty pile of Toyota going again today, new cat back system. I always used Bosal products in the past, but since they got bought up by Magnaflow, then Walker, the parts are next to impossible to find. The local Vatozone was showing a brand called Ansa which was supposed to be Bosal new old stock, relabeled with Anza part numbers. It definitely isn't Bosal, but still decent looking stuff. Mandrel bends, good clean welds on the flanges, good quality hanger rods. The muffler must have weighed 30 lbs. It's all on the 4runner now, and she is nice and quiet. No 'zoom zoom' noise from the tailpipe.

I'm about $200 into replacing the exhaust. I hope that crusty doesn't want anymore parts this year, the budget is blown for maintenance parts.

Its going to be a dd, and not a restoration project. That also said, id offer $2601.

Maybe i should just get a corolla. Just looking for something that's 98 and older

Besides frame rust check for any evidence of the Pink Milkshake. First thing I did when I bought my 4runners is installed external trans coolers. You're gonna love having a 4runner, I know I love mine.

You want a DD? Go buy a Corolla or Camry or similar. Gas mileage will be so much better.

After driving a truck & suv for so many years I could never go back to driving a car. Feels like you're sitting on the ground. But I agree they definitely get better mpg's.
