I agree with the first part in bold , but having said that , this could have occured at the other end of the benches as well .

I don't know about the second part , watch your video , his right arm follows through and his forearm directs Pacioretty's upper body / head toward the corner of the glass .

Could be intent , or just the motion of him following through on his check , but I would say that his arm does contact Pacioretty .

 

Still a design issue, both sides should be set up so they are much less likely to cause injury.

Chara isn't a dirty player, although this is three games in row where those two have gone at each other.

The NHL is just so inconsistent with it's calls... I have seen players suspended for unintentional hits where the other player was injured...

 

I agree , it makes no sense to have that glass out there between the benches .

I don't think Chara intended to ram Pacioretty's head into the corner of the glass , but I do think you are wrong in saying Chara's arm doesn't contact the head area .

I agree that the NHL is lacking in referees with experience now , and the supplimental discipline is all over the map .

No games for this hit but 10 for Gillies ? That makes no sense .

 

Yea, it has been an issue with the NHL since I can remember... the inconsistent calls.

I have to admit that last year they didn't really choke. Honestly they got out played by a good team who went on to win the cup. The past few years yeah I would agree that they do manage to choke. This year seems different though. Not saying that they are going to win it all, but with all this new chemistry in the team something good might happen since they are playing strong. Even if they do lose it in the 1st or 2nd round I think it will be a good foresight for a new era.

Regarding the Chara incident what's done is done. I can agree that a lot of the NHL calls are up and down, but regarding this it was just a shitty turnout. It's clear that Pacioretty knew that he was going to receive a check by Chara, but happened to be hit into the glass. I think the picture that shows his forearm going towards the upper body/head was just him finishing his check and not a blatant hit to the head.
