My local Toyota dealership (PNW) told me Toyota is no longer making the wiper blade inserts for the 2016+ Tacoma. If I wanted them, I'd have to order a full box. This is the replacement part they sold me.

Has anyone else ran into this or heard Toyota will be cutting production on the inserts? I've been replacing my inserts for years on this thing...

Ordered a set delivered online. The new wiper appears to be of lesser quality, it's plastic where my original wiper is metal.

My local told me they’re no longer stocking, but order them for me. which is no big deal, as I ordered them in advance and know I’m not buying 8 year old wiper blades,,,, not that they weren’t sitting on another shelf somewhere, but still.

Glad they let you order 1 set. Must be something new dealerships are doing, maybe they were sitting on the shelves for 8 years waiting for fools like us

I just picked up a pair of inserts about 3 weeks ago from Bell Road Toyota AZ and they didn't mention anything. Sounds like i should go back and grab a few spares to be safe though

Dang! Just tonight I noticed one my blades coming apart and was thinking I need a set. I’ll have to see if my dealer has then or will order them for me.

    Thanks for the heads up!

Bought a set a week or so ago from Camelback Toyota. I was thinking I should have ordered spares. Probably will now.

I’m just guessing the parts jockey doesn’t want to. You could try another dealer and just go give the FU with the part numbers if you wanted to show him up.
I buy filters, wipers, and stuff from my dealer because I prefer OE parts and if I need warranty to help, they do look at history.

I just bought some Bosch wipers from AutoZone. Slipped the Toyota wipers completely off the arms and put the new blade on ... no insert changes needed.

None of you guys like Rain-X wipers or Bosch? I’ve been waiting for my factory blades to wear out so I can get the Rain-X ones.

Wipers went bad in Ohio after one seasonal cycle (frozen winter, burning summer). Phoenix Valley summer (brutal) finds the wipers not used much but baked to death. For me wipers are only slightly more permanent than gas.

That doesn’t make sense. If they don’t make them, how can you order a box?

But I purchased inserts a few months ago from a local dealer. Try calling a different dealership in the area and see if they have any in stock.

I gotta say I'm disappointed in my Bosch blades. They clean the windshield just fine, but they visibly chatter at low or intermittent speeds. It's distracting as hell. I got my one year out of them, but I'll probably go with a cheaper set with my spring maintenance.

I usually just get new blades at Costco. May not be as great as some of the others, but inexpensive enough to change more frequently when needed.

If it doesn’t say Toyota on the box they don’t want it! They need that guarantee on the box!

The point is, how do you know the Guarantee Fairy isn't a crazy glue sniffer? "Building model airplanes" says the little fairy, but we're not buying it. Next thing you know, there's money missing off the dresser and your daughter's knocked up, I seen it a hundred times.

Arizona is murder on wiper blades - my OEM set didn't make a year. On the other hand the blades Ford put on my wife's Explorer lasted about three years in the same weather. To get the most good out of mine, I put on a new set when the monsoon starts - every year. Expensive brands and materials didn't last any better than the basics.

I don't know how hot the glass gets when my outfit heat soaks in the lot at work, but one of my welders blew up an industrial (preheat) thermometer by leaving it on the dash in May.

I get the sentiment, but maintaining the OEM wiper blades is more than a novelty. They fit well, aren’t open to let snow and ice accrue, and they fit well.

As long as the price is somewhat reasonable, I’ll stick with OEM inserts.

But a Toyota hat does sound nice. Maybe a shirt as well.
