Some people ask why I traded my 2008 for the current BEAST I have now, all I say is "cuz my older truck didn't have an Ipod jack"

Driving my own cars, 23 years now.

1. 1973 Mercury Comet 4 door w. 200ci straight-six auto tranny.

'88-'89

White with shit brown vinyl roof.. was known as the Vomit Comet for several reasons. Didn't last too long until i buried it into the back of a van in a moment of in-attention.

2. 1985 Nissan 720D Kingkab pickup w. 4cyl 2.4L 5-speed manual tranny

'90-'95

Sheet metal so light it folded like Origami. Regularly. Expensive parts. Drove it into the ground/became unaffordable to maintain further.

3. 1988 Ford F150 regular cab 4.9L straight-6 with 4 speed manual tranny.

'95-'00

Built like a beast, but body was bio-degradeable. Drove into the ground/become unaffordable to maintain further.

4. 1997 GMC Safari 4.3L V-6 auto tranny.

'00-08

It suffered all the weaknesses known of that era of GM's mid-sized van, quality wise. Gave up trying to replace it a piece at a time after 8 years of ownership, and on top of it tried to drink my paycheck away in the gas crunch of 2008 when i moved from a 5km to 40km one-way commute. This is the vehicle that swore me off of the Big-3, for life.

5. 2008 Toyota Yaris 1.5L Inline-4, 5 speed manual.

'08-'10

EXCELLENT econobox, no reliability issues in 3 years of a 5 year lease. Lease terminated by Toyota to upgrade to soon to arrive Tacoma.


I haven't had all that many vehicles in those years, all of them were well used before i got my mitts onto them - even the Yaris lease had lost it's new car smell after 3,000km's and a re-po back to the dealer.

The Tacoma will be my first new vehicle.

 

This was my 1995 Nissan Pathfinder 4x4. I drove her until the engine gave out.

2002 Nissan Frontier SC - Looked good, nice interior, great sound system, however the supercharged engine had lots of issues and I was constantly dumping money into it!



Before the Frontier I had 3 different Toyota pickups, one of which was this 93.
It was pretty bad ass, but I didn't use it for what it was built for so I let it go.

the last cars I had were a 1997 jeep grand cherokee with 200000 on it and a saab 9/3 with a ton of miles on it too. I will never have a brand new car or truck what a waste of money I am forever buying used. Now I have my 07 access cab v6 fwd I am very happy.

2005 F150 Super Crew , Good solid trouble free truck but never ever gave the gas milage it was suppose to.10 to 12 mpg

I had a 2005 Pontiac G6 GT that had a bent wheel but a good stereo system. Man I miss that stereo system!
