87e10, 88e15, 91 (probably e something), and 93 top tier. Never noticed a change on any of them. Even logged ignition advance vs load and zero change regardless of what fuel I was running, I don't remember what the fuel trims did aside from being nothing major that stood out

After my tests it's been 87 from a variety of stations.

I cannot say with certainty I tried e0 but I have not seen it around here

I don't think 2500 is lugging, that's where it does it most for me. All the way up to 3400 actually.

My truck is sensitive to gas. It runs worse on non shell/chevron 87. Costco for ex makes it more likely to “stutter” at 1500-2500 rpm in 1st and second gear. It’s really annoying, you’re sitting there like a bobble head

3rd owner with only 14k miles? Kind of tells you something.

Didn't answer the question about what the RPMs were. But if you're letting off the throttle at 60, in 6th, then slowly getting back on the throttle? "Barely touching the gas" as you said...sounds like you're lugging the motor.

How would using 6th gear at 60mph be lugging the motor?

Comprehension of the written language is a lost art, apparently. OP said they're letting off the gas at 60, in 6th, then they're barely touching the gas to get back on it. Steady cruising at 60mph in 6th won't lug the motor, but that's not what OP is complaining about.

Admittedly; We don't know how long they're off the gas, how much speed is being scrubbed while they decelerate/off the gas, what the RPMs/vehicle speed are at when they barely get back on it, if the road is flat or on an incline when this happens, etc. I'd specifically asked OP about engine RPMs, amongst other variables, and they basically side-stepped all of it. So I'm forced to go by the assumption they're lugging the motor.

Dont be pedantic. Let off the gas at 60mph and then barely touch the gas is LESS or the SAME throttle input as it took to cruise at 60mph.

Pretty darn easy to let off the gas and then get right back into it without losing hardly any speed at all. But fine, if we want to play the what-if game then do you think that cruising at 55mph in 6th is "lugging" the motor? Because its darn easy to do that without losing 5mph.

Anything else is conjecture to justify an argument and I'm pretty darn sure he wouldn't specifically identify 60mph if his speed dropped to 40 and was climbing pikes peak at the time. Apparently "reading comprehension" includes inventing a story to justify ones argument.

"Forced to go by the assumption he was lugging the motor", or, you know, this low mileage three owner truck has similar issues to those that have been discussed on here frequently before.

Conjecture to justify an argument? Look in the mirror much? o_O

The devil's in the details...of which OP has provided almost none. You're making as much of an assumption on how they're driving/what they're experiencing as I am.

I've been driving manuals for decades, everything from '3 on the tree' up through modern-day manuals and haven't to play the on/off throttle game to maintain a set speed since I was a kid.

End of the day Firn; you asked me a question, I answered it. I tried to explain my POV, and you're trying to berate me for it. Talk about pedantic. Have a good day.

Light throttle, low RPM (less than 1500) gives my truck a noticeable miss on 87. I wouldn't call it a sputter, but I don't know if OP and I use the same vernacular. I always tell people with weird issues to try a tank of 93 and see what happens. Maybe it helps, maybe it doesn't. It matters on my truck.

The multiple owner issue mentioned given the low mileage wouldn't concern me given the truck is a manual. Most claim they can drive a manual or want a manual and then quickly begin to hate it for a daily driver. It's not for everyone. :burnrubber:

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Being a parts cannon kind of guy, I’m going to say ditch the low output oe ignition coils for some higher output msd sparkolators and see if that makes any difference

Rolling down the road in 5th/6th gear.... Do you mean the freeway? I can't think of any reason I'd be in those high gears on any regular road unless it was highway speed limits. Sounds like you're lugging the engine

Buddy of mine's 2019 3.5 trd did the same, while my 2020 3.5 won't. Both of the trucks were using 87....at least I know i was. It drove him nuts. I think it's the way some of these engines are tuned as my truck had definitely more giddy-up than his, although both had the same latest stock tsb tunes. Only difference, his was a trd double cab while mine is an access cab.

I cruise in 5th/6th in city all the time. 1200-1300 or so RPMs. With light throttle application it’s perfectly smooth. Stock or tuned.

FWIW, I’ve always used 91E0 or higher after dealers fill.

My truck cruises fine at 1400 rpm, or so on the back roads here in 6th doing around 50 mph running 87 E10 fuel. It rarely needs to exceed 2500 rpm, even on the hills to maintain those speeds.
