Your coils will be painted/stamped with their specs.

Better than guessing.

 

I hated my 5100s but I suppose they should feel a little better haha

 

@Kwikvette @eon_blue it looks like they are from that Toytec lift kit

 

It's tough especially when you've been exposed to other coilovers/shocks that are just better valved, and better overall.

 

There's more as far as your part number goes, or better yet their length and spring rate.

 

Yeah I regret all the years I put off getting coilovers and real shocks for my green truck. It was a night and day difference on and off road. It's one of the first things I do now when starting a build, so much improvement for really not a huge sum of money.

 

Pretty sure those are the infamous 620lb coils though, that setup was dogshit with my 5100s

 

100% agree.

It's part of the reason why I went with Fox 2.5's as my first upgrade on the Tacoma and King 2.5's for the 4R.

The Nissan Frontier I had before that wore Rancho Quicklift coilovers and rear shocks; small lift and it wasn't jarring at all but you can totally feel the 'fade' after fucking around for some time in the dirt.

 

You can tell spring is coming to Tahoe! The Tacomas are blooming.

With coilovers I just pickup whatever I can find used cheap, they're all the same when it comes down to it, most even use the same parts internally. I'm just gonna revalve them and change springs anyway.

 

I have the same coils and 5100s, and think my ride quality is pretty decent, but that's totally a subjective feeling. Just got my wife the new Rav4 Hybrid and drove it on an 8-hr road trip over the weekend. Ole' Dorothy [tacoma] felt pretty harsh upon my return, but not to the point I felt the front end would fall apart

 

Something like that, I forget them length, it's not an important metric since they're not typical coilover springs they're made to fit on stock front style setups. But without weight and with a swaybar they're rough man.

I think there's maybe some 8-9 different 'brand' coils that all buy their coils from the same manufacturer.

Pretty sure I had texted you pics of coils we were powder coating for Eibach, King, and several more.

 

That's a lot of weight on top of that taco!

 

Even with the internals they're all offering you pretty much the same things minus the stock valvings they cook up and whatever exterior adjustment doodads they come up with (fox with the DSC, King with compression clickers, etc.) Fox makes you pay for all their effort on branding kinda like Milwaukee though, whereas officially King doesn't even sell directly to the public.

 

What holds me back is the rear. I’m not convinced I have the skills to set up a relocation properly.

 

It's really minor skills, you got that purty engine back together, you can easily setup some rear shocks. I did the one on my white truck in 2hrs... I can give you measurements to nail the top bar position, then you just need to put the bottoms on to work with your springs and whatever shocks you decide on.

 

Yeah I was going to say, his recent work is way more technical than a shock relocation.
