So, late Friday night a huge limb at the very top of my 120ft+ high Oak tree decided to break. It got snagged, barely on a couple of lower limbs, but hanging above my neighbors house. Got the ladder out and climbed up to wrap so tow straps around it then hooked them to winch to keep it from falling. Rerouted the cable through a snatch block and got it down safely.

Once again, a Tacoma saves the day!

Nice. I had a tree fall onto my neighbors property and they were gonna go and hire someone to take care of it at a “reasonable price” so I said fuck that and hooked my tow strap and dragged it in 4lo the 15 feet back onto my property and then took the next several weeks cutting it up and hauling it away. Can’t remember what the total weight was but I had to scale each load and it was several thousand pounds. It wasn’t easy. I also kept and milled a lot of it. But damn if I had to pay a huge bill to them.

Always wondered how damaging that might have been to my drive train but that was three years ago now so I assume I’m good.

idk about where you live, but here in Georgia if your tree or a branch falls on a neighbor's property, it's their problem not yours.

Good on ya, OP! That whole tree looks like an accident waiting to happen. It should be made into firewood before any more breakage.

I hear you on the so called "reasonable costs" quotes from the tree guys, lol!! . When a branch from that same tree fell on the power lines and my truck the "reasonable cost" to have tree guys come take care of it was $3,600

    Well done. :101010:

... I pulled a shrub last weekend. I guess that's almost as impressive.

The tree is healthy, it shades the property and all the old trees help create the old fashion "charm' atmosphere in our neighborhood. Thats why I would really hate to cut it down. But, I know you are right, the limbs are getting so long that the weight of them is Starting to become a hazard ☹️ :(

Yup! Tacoma's definitely make taking care of chores around the property a whole lot easier! Lol!
