Anything welding

I thought the tire and tube were installed then the 2 parts of the wheel were bolted back together.

Going back to my youth with the wheel barrow tire.

I understand it has been a few months any excuse to pull the trigger

 

This an idler pulley for a mower deck. The flat side of the V belt rides against the pulley.

These are a replaceable part. They last about 500 hrs, then you toss them. I have the bearing, so I just rebuild them.

 

Hard to tell from the picture it looked like a 2 piece wheel.

No welding, just cutting and bending.

Good friend of mine needs a template for mounting her ARB twin air compressor in the engine bay.

Got dimensions this morning so got right into drawing and cutting it out.







Made one out of 12 gauge and one out of 16 gauge.



Since the 12 gauge is pretty thick, I figured I'd bend it up here at home.

 

You gonna weld the relief cuts closed, or is it plenty stout enough?

 

Last night, after a long week of dealing with my Dad's medical issues, I decided to work out my frustrations in steel:

 

The 12 gauge will not bend any further unless you hit it with a sledge.

The 16 gauge I'd recommend being welded but she can weld; I'm providing it in case the 12 gauge is "overkill" but really it might not be used at all.

I do want to ask; how are you attaching those layers (first piece).

 

Man, your single line cuts look nice. For me, that's been an Achilles heel. I screw up mu lead-ins/outs.

When I go silent, it's probably because I'm messing with stuff or nerding out and trying to learn on my own.

 

In this case, just roughed up both surfaces and use silicone caulk.

On the Harley signs I've been making with bolts attached, superglue and spot welds on my keeper one.

I want to weld this stuff, but I know I'll just have more labor and maybe risk damage. If I was better with my TIG I'd love to see some beautiful TIG holding some of it together. Goals!

 

Thanks for the concern. Both my parents are 88 yrs old. It's a lot of work keeping them alive and in their own home.

 

That's tough; my wife just lost her dad a few months ago (super close, she's the oldest girl).

And just 3 weeks before that she lost her grandma.

 

Hopefully I will be able to keep up with Kwikvette, now.

 

That's way more work and technical than I've done.

Largest assemblies I've welded were stainless steel frames at 14' x 14' x 16' give or take a foot. They were all part of a large conveyor belt system for food packaging IE produce, etc.

 

I was referring to the plasma cutting quality on your parts.

I got a new table in yesterday to replace my Multicam V-series and supplement the Arclight Arcmax

5x10 on the arcmax

5 axis 6x12 on this one ... plus a tube and pipe processor (6th axis).

 

Installed a pressure gauge on my regulator to replace my old one that I accidentally cracked the cover and damaged so the needle got hung up on the gauge and wouldn’t properly read pressure. It still worked to hold pressure but I wanted to be able to know when I would run out of gas so I bought a new one.

Threaded the new one in and synched it down and opened the valve on the bottle slowly. Instantly pegged the needle against the other side of the 0 psi stopper. Welding supply shop said it would be what I needed but I also got a new bottle from a new place and I don’t know if the pressure was too much for a little mig setup but 15 min later as I was prepping my area the gauge lost pressure and blew the face out.



I don’t know what it was since it was a new bottle and a new gauge at the same time.

Any guesses? Not sure if I should replace the gauge, entire regulator, or even the bottle to make sure it doesn’t happen again. I closed the valve after about 4-5 seconds so I don’t know how much pressure was lost. Gauge reads about 4000 psi max.

 

I'd say your primary gauge Bordon tube let go. Replace it with another gauge with similar increments.

I haven't seen a tank filled to 4k in years. Is there a chance this is what you got? Normal is 2k psi when new.

Did you note what the primary gauge read when you 1st opened the tank valve?

Edit: I looked at the pic of the blown out gauge. That shows a 2 k gauge. I think you replaced the gauge with too small of a gauge.
