Maybe one of these would be better. Nissan used to be really solid before they lost the plot and put those garbage CVTs in everything.

Aw damn :( That sucks. What do you mean by glitchy steering? I've never experienced something like that.

It is a pretty big vehicle for the Ozarks, those trails can get really tight in spots. Curious which way you'll go with it.

I doubt he wants to go from a 100 to an old hardbody.
4th gen 4Runner would be fine.
Or something else...he'll figure it out. I'm sure he'd like to be back on the trail sooner rather than later.

    True.

The hard body could be the Home Depot rig.

Haha the locals love them up in the hills since they're cheap and tough as nails, and also the perfect size for the woods. But yea they're not exactly practical or comfy.

Always thought it'd be nice to just have a little one with a tray for stuff like that. Super handy.

Now that I'm driving the wagon a bunch, part of me wants to put a ute tray on the truck and just make it full utility versus the shell/rack. But also don't want to sell my bed right away just in case, so I'd have to get (another) storage unit for it. I love having the shell but also it just makes me use the truck as a mini storage unit haha

The perfect little toy if you have a place to take advantage of it. So cool.

My bed is standing on end in my garage still

I really want to build out the rest of the bed - an adapter for my shell and a couple of underslung toolboxes. It just not ideal to have everything out in the elements all the time. Part of me wants to find a wagon for DD too.

Seeing frames like that makes me wish I had a nice tube bender.

Will take some material loss to figure out where to bend and get the right angles at the right length, but I'm ok with that.

That's very true, not great having stuff sit out. I'd have to keep the bed pretty empty like I did pre-shell. (Brutal sun here too) I always liked the canvas ute top options though, pretty light and simple and keeps enough weather out, just have to get one made since they're not popular in the US.
Can't recommend a wagon enough though. Big enough to be handy, small enough to be practical, good mileage, can be fun, etc.

@0xDEADBEEF Something like these. I'm in a big boating/fishing community and plenty of custom canvas guys could do it.

People that are good with a tube bender can make some amazing stuff. Got to see lots of that stuff on pirate back in the day.

Hmm..there's a canvas shop in a nearby town. I could build a more permanent version of last summers shade canopy for that.

The car I learned to drive stick in was an 82 volvo wagon. So so practical. I really miss that thing nowadays.

If you can draw it up most canvas shops seem open to custom work, could be good.
Love the old Volvos. Hard to beat a 240 wagon for old utility/simplicity. Be on my list if I were to get an old one for sure. Old diesel Mercs too. Lotsa options.
