Yeah, tried that too, no luck getting fluid to go back towards the lever.

I had a similar problem with my rear Guide T. It sure acted like I was collapsing the hose when I was “sucking” with the lever syringe. If I did it very slowly and didn’t pull to much of a vacuum on the brake line fluid would move.

The SRAM video I watched specifically said not to push fluid with the caliper syringe but that could be a difference between the Codes and Guides.

I literally had this exact same thing happen with my XTs. Took it to a shop and watched fluid freely flow via gravity. It was so easy I am convinced my adapter on my park tool must be clogged.

They used a cheap-o kit and it was money.

I had the same experience with some Saint calipers that I have not bled in a while. The culprit was the bleed nipple was clogged (my mineral oil was almost black). I could not force any fluid from caliper to lever but I could push from lever to caliper. I had to take the bleed nipple out and run a thin gauge wire through it to remove the obstruction. After doing that, I was able to push oil from the caliper.

Pro-tip: You have to really crank on the bleed nipple on the Saints to make sure there is no leaking from bleed nipple after the install. Also, make sure that the o-ring is in place and not damaged.

Hmmm. The protective rubber port plug was missing over the bleeding edge nut you have to loosen at the caliper, so that may be the culprit here as well if dirt then got in.

I have a Haro Flightline 20" that I use for both my 6 and 7 year old (whoever wants to ride that day, LoL) whatever you go with, I'd recommend perusing FB Marketplace. I picked up the Haro ($400 MSRP) for $100. Perfect condition. Hardly ridden.

I've lost my rubber cap on the Saints as well so it is totally possible that dirt got in there clogging crap up. The hole through the bleed nipple is small compared to the oil passages in the caliper itself which I think makes it easy to clog. The caliper itself is pretty simple. I wouldn't recommend taking a Shimano caliper apart though. They are technically not rebuildable.

Likely dirty. But also make sure that bleeding edge truly is open. Check your tool as well.

Started undoing one connection point at a time to figure out where the chokepoint is. Bleeding edge port worked, etc all the way up to the olive. Push slightly on the caliper syringe and it flows easily, so its something in the lever above the olive and is also the piece of the puzzle I rebuilt, so Im gonna guess I goofed something up there.

Found the issue. Had a lever mechanism linkage backwards internally. Basically made the lever fully squeezed by default.

It’s only 74 right now, but all this humidity got me dying. I did dress lighter today and the legs feel great pedaling, I don’t really feel tired. I’m just soaked. Not ready for this southeast heat.

Speaking of heat, it wasn’t summer temperatures by any means but I did my first enduro race today and it was like 74 I think by the end of the race. Normally that’s be fine but considering the only training I’ve done in 60+ was in Austin back in February. The transfer to stage 4 had a 1 hour+ climb. And I know it was actually that long and not just my bad fitness because some of the pro category riders were with me the whole time (I got to skip stage 3 as a sport category rider). Either way it was a super fun race. 3D4FEA3D-0B83-4245-996C-4D200F7B80DB.jpg
