I think every thing I commented on was on topic and specific to the article posted. The only time I waiverd from that was in response to some quote of my previous post.

It's also possible to hold two conflicting opinions of the same subject to form an unbiased opion of said subject.

I don't care what a parking looks like it has no impact on its function. I also think a parking lot can look nice to improve the quality of it's surroundings.

 

Next thing you know they will put parking meters on the side of streets, they will look hideous.

 

People in Arizona are complaining that they cannot find charging stations in the desert and must go 30 miles each way off-path to gain 250 miles of range. So the state is planning to use government money to install charging stations.

Meanwhile, there is a community not 5 miles from Scottsdale AZ that has no more piped water due to agricultural overuse and ridiculous restrictions (either you use the annual allotment given every single year or we will cut the allotment every year after). And homeless encampments in downtown Phoenix that are crime-magnets.

Yes ... money well-spent.

 

Building subdivisions with swimming pools in every yard in the DESERT, now that is good planning.

 

You don't need to stare at the charging station if you live in an apartment complex... you'd be watching 'Teletubbies' on TV, inside of your apartment.. All you do is get in the car and leave... then back park in the parking space then plug it in the charger.. then walk to your apartment, turn TV on... When charger is finished, you'd be notified then unplug it... That's it.

If you don't want to see it, then ask the office agent to get you an apartment facing the yard instead of parking spaces. You should have thought about this instead of trolling us..

 

Getting stuck in a Tacoma puts it into some bizarre limp mode that requires it to be towed to a dealership hundreds of miles away?

If any one wants own and drive an EV go for it. You can drive 5 of them if you want to. I don't want one. What ever opinion you have if you live in an appartment that is housed in a rowhouse which is very common on the east coast. Many of which only have the ability to street park. Driving an EV isn't a practical option. The only other apartments I'm familiar with are garden style 3 and 4 story building complexes which usually have parking lots, and high rise buildings that usually have multi level garages. Those two styles can accommodate chargers much easier, I still don't think those are ideal for EV owners who want to charge at home. It's just common sense.

 

The dumb rich kid will be posting here next bitching that his brand new TRD Pro he just spent $10k lifting with a drop bracket and 35s is slow, handles shitty and the transmission is hunting all over the place.

 

I can't honestly think of a place on earth where an EV is a more practical vehicle to own over an ICE.

Outside of wanting or liking an EV over an ICE, maybe you like the tech, you like the performance. You like not going to the gas station you like the environmental aspect of an EV. All legitimate reasons to operate an EV and those are subjective and debatable. Still valud reasons to choose EV.

I still don't see where that makes an EV more practical for most people to operate. Even in the most EV friendly cities hiw does that EV become more practical than ICE. Where on earth does this exist?

 

Of course you can't, you refuse to acknowledge ANYTHING that is positive about EVs. When present with any information that doesn't not paint them in a negative light you come up with a reason why you don't have to listen to it.

What's the example where is an EV more practical than an ICE vehicle?

 

Operating cost

A Chevy bolt will perform the same job as near any other car, costs only a little more, and saves that much or more in just a few years

Time saved.

The average home owning EV owner will spend less time waiting on their car to "refill" than a gas car driver.

Short range towing

The f150 lightning will out perform other half tons in towing for anything under two hours of driving per day. More of it has rest periods where it could top up. Such as general contractors, deliveries, or similar trips.

Day cab semi trucks

Day cab trucks frequently run daylight hours and limited ranges. EVs haul as much, accelerate faster, recover the energy, and SIGNIFICANTLY reduce fuel costs.

School busses.

The VAST majority of school busses run short trips of stop and go. These would be far better performed by an EV. Their battery storage is also proving useful, the school districts can charge the busses on off peak energy prices and use that energy during on peak pricing, saving them money

Mail routes.

NONSTOP stop and go. Literally. Less complicated than a hybrid for the same purpose.

Travel with high idle times

EVs literally only run the HVAC when stopped. Gas cars have to throw 90% of the energy in the fuel away just to keep you comfortable. EVs store three or more days worth of a standard house worth of energy, they can do this for DAYS for pennies.

 

Up here that's basically normal winter driving

 

That’s impressive, been driving 4wds in Michigan for 50years, never been able to drive through 24” of snow. Of course I have never really tried, a lot depends on the type of snow.

 

Good examples but those don't really fit my definition of more practical. All of those examples are based in theory rather than fact. Have any of those theories been proven.

Bolt cost more up front, and I have to own a house for it to really pay off.

Short range towing I'd use a 3.5 ecoboost over the lightning extended range tank, and I don't know if you can opt for tow mirrors. Plus the EV payload isn't up to what the eb is given HDPP. They do suck in the heat.

Mail route that's hard to say an EV might be better, it's still going to be more expensive. We will get compare these soon I think ICE and EV will share the same body and platform.

School buses, I think gas will be cheaper and many districs have newer fleets of gas busses. That won't stop them from going electric. Which isn't practical IMO.

Battery powered AC, IDK that don't sound as cold as belt driven. Recently saw where a new Tundras electronically controlled AC failed. Not sure if that's relatable to EV.

I'm not saying EV can't be good in some situations, but none of those examples have been proven. Not that I have seen.
