@tazgohome, Seeing that I just did this yesterday, and have only driven a few miles since then, none yet. And honestly, it will only make a minor difference to a much bigger picture, over time. It's not an instant power booster like NOS. But drive your truck on a 36-degree day and you will notice a crisper response to your engine, proving that cold air makes power you can feel in the butt dyno. This mod is not drastic enough to feel, just enough to help the engine do its best. Every little bit helps!

More mods than it should have...
I don't think its necessary. I mean if you got the muscle you can do it by hand like I did on one side but the other I just used a big pair of pliers to grab and twist cause it was stuck on there good. As for the jacks, no they aren't necessary for the front.

pretty much concur with you. See the same thing with jet engines also. Beside the base, did you also cover the tubing leading up to the cover? Just wondering if doing the whole intake system would be a good idea. Saving even a few degrees will help. Thanks for the feedback.

I cut 4 feet off my modified tailpipe with 12 x 4 tip and put a 12 x 6 tip on the pipe just after it crosses the axle. I was hoping it would help the Hush Thrush muffler sound a little more aggressive. Its actually quieter in the cab now. But it still sounds cool. So, out with the old, in with the new.

I spent 15-30 minutes today installing cruise control on my '06 base model (came without it, sadly). Sooo easy and works great! :bananadance:

Also just finished my x3 drain and refill on the ATF. 33% (4-4.5 qt) out each time with 13 qt capacity -> .66^3 = roughly 30% old fluid left. Not at all interested in a full flush.

17 years old, 187k miles. 2nd gen = best gen (IMO).

It wasn't too bad. Air hammer makes light work of the stock cam tabs.
