Only downsides I see are the laces and the lack of protection/support in the event of a crash. Good looking boot, though.

Nothing wrong with that. I wear my steel toe loggers till I get something else. Is it a proper boot? Depends on who you ask, and its better than crocks. Haha

Yeah I tried on the so called proper riding boots. No way I would want to walk in them.
I've never had an issue with laces. I guess it depends on what kind of riding you do. Compared to what I see some people wearing these are more than adequate.

Ah, I've never had "proper" riding boots, but I know stuff like the MX boots are hell. I'm going for some "adventure" boots because they are supposed to be good for walkable boot and have decent protection.

Depends on the MX boot i guess. I can spend all day walking around / riding in my mx boots without problem.

They’re lacking in the ankle protection area. you can get hiking/riding hybrid boots that are comfortable to walk in but are also designed for riding

And yes, not running the bar pad haha might throw it back on some other time and see how I like it.

That’s why I picked Sidi TA for my boots. They have a hinged ankle and a replaceable sole and aren’t too bad to walk around in. They’ll be even better when broken in. Having already pinned my leg under the bike, I was thankful for them.

Out of stock in my size. I plan to go with the Forma Adventures in brown. https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/riding-gear/forma-adventure-boots-p A little more casual looking, but there have been several long term reviews that have all been mostly positive.

That’s why I ended up with white/black boots versus black/black because they didn’t have my size, but it ended up working out because I love the white/black ones.

Those boots look pretty nice! I haven’t heard of forma but the reviews speak for themselves.

It's about an inch, inch and a half shorter than the stock grom bars. I didn't realize that before I ordered it and at first I didn't think I was going to like it, being a bigger dude and all, but it actually looks pretty aggressive and good in real life. Its cold and snowing still (ugh) so I haven't gotten to actually ride in the new position, but I'm hopeful.

Heres a screensnip from the video of a comparison of the two bars, as close as I could get em lined up:

    upload_2023-3-26_17-45-13.jpg

I cut 3/4" off each side of the new bars and they're still probably 2" wider than stock and sit a little lower.

Well it finally got to the 50s today and no rain. So I took my new bonneville out for a ride to start the break in. Did a 100 miles. I absolutely love the bike. It's just what I wanted. Handles good, great torque, sounds good, and feels small and lightweight to me for a 1200cc bike. Very happy with it.
I stopped by the lake for some pics.

I had a blast out riding, just me and the bike. Burned a half tank of fuel.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!

I didn't realize that was a 1200cc bike, nice! Glad you were finally able to get out on it.
