Yeah that's a good idea, I read that Huskies usually have 2 major shedding events a year (spring/end of summer) so that would probably be a good 2x a year investment...

doing it myself would be a full time job judging how the last several days have been

Harley got spooked by the huge pile of fur on the carpet, probably thought it was another dog

I don't know how much dog groomers get paid, but looking at that pile tells me they'll earn it

Many money, my boss has his two rat dogs groomed every two months for $160, in nowheresville Idaho. One is a Chihuahua and the other is a Teacup Yorkie, together they don't equal the size of a cat. Gotta imagine a big boi like Dex would be more, plus he's in CA so mark it up another 40%.

I can't stress enough that this only one half of him lol. He's passed out on the couch and I've just been combing that side while watching the Kings game. When he gets up he'll probably look half shaved

I dunno, it's like a long haired one or something. The Yorkie looks like fried chicken when it's fur gets too long. I'm really not a small dog person at all, at a certain point they crossover from dog to handicapped cat. I make an exception for Corgis and Spaniels.

Haha I'm the same way, the only < 40lb dog I'd want would be a Corgi because they're hilariously adorable.

Otherwise, we have cats and I don't want a dog that my cat can herd into complacency. And Harley definitely would with a dog his size, he practically has Dex trained to fear him already

@Tour991 wtf was that Kings game, they're up 5-1 after the first then barely win 7-6....they always do this with the bottom barrel teams, come out the gate strong then get smacked around. Makes me nervous for the playoffs. At least we know they can score I guess.

I know what you mean! I was at a work party tonight so I couldn't watch it. But checked the score 5-1 and than when I got home 7-6 What happened to the defense.

Kept leaving the slot wide open, most Blues goals scored from there. Hope they learn from it because they can get away with that come playoffs in the West but against the East ...doubt it

    Everything but the driveshaft. B03A - 410
    Status on Monday, March 27th.

I want to put together a spreadsheet of enhancements that can be moved to another 100 series and the cost to replace. That will let me analyze the cost of staying with a compatible model. A big part of the success with overlanding this 100 comes from its ability to run deep water crossings while staying dry inside. I doubt that after repair, the door seals will be like the originals. If I find a 2000 or 2001 model I will gain ATRAC. That will get me back into overlanding business as fast as possible without having to immediately move the front diff (locker) and transfer case. Having ATRAC or a front locker is extremely important in my environment. I just need to run the numbers to make an informed decision. Also, most everybody knows that I carry enough spare parts to baseline another 100 series. That will weigh into my go forward decision. Will I be able to bake another cake?

My predicament reminds me of this song.

What year was your old one? You could also look at a 98-99 with the rear locker, but those have the weaker 2-pinion front diff..

That’s interesting you see ATRAC or a front locker is essential in the Ozarks. You must be running harder trails than me cause I’ve rarely felt like I needed lockers on trails around here. Maybe it’s more important for a heavier 100 series.

The old one was a 99 model. LSD still worked -- I could feel the rear start to fishtail when it kicked in. One of my first mods was to replace the 2-pinion front diff with a Harrop locker and 4-pinion gear setup.

This was one of Zuk from AZ's last Harrop builds. I want to keep that one. I do drive the most technical trails where ATRAC or a front locker really helps.
Most of the time I'm with 5GT4Rs or 2000 model 100s with ATRAC.

If I build another one, it will be much lighter than this one.

It seems like the consensus is that old-school lockers are usually more capable than ATRAC, though the latter might be better for certain situations, like on very slick surfaces for instance. I’ve also read about ATRAC possibly contributing to front diff failure on some of the early 100 series models by overloading the ring and pinion, so maybe a later 5-speed model would be a better bet.
