I used this brand as well. Quality was nice. Definitely recommend a template for the holes. This project is still holding up well from June 2021.

So when I dug out the area to build the little landing off the garage man door I thought I dug up all the bulbs that were planted by the previous owner. Well, about a month ago I found out I missed some...

So, instead of just using a brush killer to rid of them, I took up the deck boards. I wanted to trim one on the table saw a little bit anyways. Holy cow did I miss a bunch!

    Dug up

    All put back together

I'll need to sand and re-stain here when it gets even warmer. Replanted the bulbs in the front flower bed area. I'm sure they'll die off right now, but next year will grow back nice.

I installed a rolling door stop today after getting sick of the door handles on the Jack and Jill bathroom binding against each other. Photo to follow. Works well but kinda wish it had a little bit of bump stop shock absorption to it.

Picture is kinda hard to see, but does this look like termite droppings to you all? They're small brown pellet like.

I pulled back that piece of paneling, but couldn't see any termite tubes or anything. I know there's two joist that are damaged, but are possibly old damage.

This weeks job. Replacing and painting cedar clapboards (pre-primed) on this cape. Wrapped up above the garage today (from the gutter up above the gable vent). So many layers of roofing the clapboards have been resting right on the asphalt shingles for who knows how long. Ends were all mossy (it's the north side) and rotten. Step flashing was in good shape after cleaning up all the funk with a hand broom. I use spray shellac to seal the cut ends above the roof before applying an oil primer. Tackling the sides of each front dormer too. 12/12 roof. Used some brackets to secure a ladder on the roof as a stable place to work. Had a buddy as a cut man to save me from constant up & down the ladder.

    Final update:

I mounted the Mac Mini underneath the desk and started organizing some of the cables coming from the I/O Jack. I didn’t spend too much time obsessing since I don’t really need to access the back very often with the I/O Jack doing its job.
    FAF50C31-EABD-4B6F-B992-67CA6F2EC005.jpg

Then I spliced a piece of my baseboard and cut the holes for the electrical boxes
    F15183C2-DDEF-4CFF-9388-F2DB31C0AC29.jpg

The last pieces to install were some scribe trim on the ends of the cabinets. When I put the desk in it pushed against the wall and opened a gap. Easy fix. Just needed to make sure I scribed it so it ran parallel with the drawer front.
    EEBDA065-CE54-4B11-80DC-6ED371F280C6.jpg

Painted those trim pieces and caulked. Filled nail holes and junctions with drydex and wet sanded with a rag

Masked off for final paint without a knee saver.

Annnnnnd she’s done. Extremely happy with how this turned out. I started it last June and have been picking at it between other projects despite working from home. I don’t know why I didn’t prioritize it. I’m done working from the kitchen table.

Time to move my fly tying stuff into the drawers, put some of my stuff on the walls, and call it done for a while. I’ll build some storage in the closet down the road, but for now I need to finish the staircase and get back to my shop build.
