So, I made a decision to get some rotors from the local autoparts store. Very unlike me. But they need to get done, like yesteryear.

I was able to get my hands on my Hawk LTS pads fortunately, so I'm VERY happy about that. Going to be installing them soon and I can't wait to feel the difference. Gonna do a full brake bleed as well.

Thank you everyone for their input and experiences. The wealth of knowledge is incredibly helpful and informative!

I'll also give an update afterwards on how they're performing. Went with Carquest Wearever rotors, nothing special. They came with a 2 year warranty as well, so there's that.

Ironically that's what the place I bought the 2014 from used. They had about 2,000 miles on them and I replaced them due to warpage. One did have a sticking caliper, but the other side was pretty bad too. Never towed with that truck and rarely went up and over the mountain. Toyota's seem to be super darn picky about rotors for some reason.

If i’m in a pinch or doing them for somebody else on the side i always go with Autozone Duralast gold rotors and duralast ceramic pads. Lifetime warranty on em too

I've got oem pads and rotors on right now. The toyota pads really do last a long time, it's the stock rotors that tend to warp. And I don't have the funds for the TBU. So I hope these last me a while. My current setup has 72K miles on them. Which, I know, is absolutely absurd for brakes. I think I got my money's worth out of them. Hopefully these will serve my truck well, so we'll see.

Interesting.... I just reused the steel lines from the calipers to the knuckle where it changes over to the flex line since the Tundras use the steels lines as well. Maybe I need to look into the one piece lines. I also need to do a proper bleed of the system, I never had any help to pump the brake pedal for me, I just used a 1 man bleeder kit ( which I have never liked very much).

My research regarding the 231's on a 3rd gen 4runner mentioned upgrading from the hard lines to hoses with banjo bolts for the increased brake fluid flow requirement. Like I mentioned my 2 4runners have the smaller 199's so those still have the oem metal lines to the calipers. First gen Tacomas come equipped with brake hoses with banjo bolts at the calipers, not a steel line like the 4runners. I upgraded to ss hoses with the larger banjo bolts for my 231 upgrade on my Tacoma.

If i remember correctly those Posi Quiet pads are made in China. The Wagner Thermo quiet pads are made in USA or Mexico. Unfortunately just about all the aftermarket rotors are now chinese made.
