Favorite Whiskey?

I keep seeing tons of posts from AZ on instagram finding rare stuff. Costco is apparently a hot spot. Trevor's is tagged a lot as well. Pretty sure they have TW there too.

 

What's the Instagram? I'd like to know where to look in my area.

 

It's mostly random shit that pops up in my discover feed. az_bourbon_hunter posts his locations sometimes.

Fry's is another spot I see posted a lot w/ good finds.

A lot of IG hype around rare bottles being easier to find in AZ. Report back to us @ET_Quila . I might have to plan a golf/bottle hunt trip if it's what it's cracked up to be.

 

Well, it's difficult to price check, and as you're leaving the country, the opportunity to get some elsewhere is going to be slim.

And that might be a good deal for someone flying to Norway...

Costco has these on sale for under $17.

 

My experience with $17 whiskey is that it almost always should cost more or less than $17.

 

Hopefully this will be a bottle kill tomorrow. I’m not trying to do more than a two finger pour on a Monday. Cheers.

Side note, it's usually a $30+ bottle. I asked the stocker, whose opinion I generally trust, and he said it's a good bottle, especially for the sale price.

 

I have that same bottle. I haven't opened/sampled yet, though.

 

I stopped by a hole in the wall place in a not-so-great neighborhood that always has a good variety, unusual things and prices that can be good or not. Like a box of chocolates - never know what you're gonna get. I'd never seen or heard of the Nikka Miyagikyo brandy finish, and first time seeing the Hibiki.

They were asking around $230 for the Nikka and $700 for the Hibiki. Checking on-line, the Nikka goes for $400-$600, and the Hibiki for $300. Any of those prices are higher than I would spend, but interesting bottles nonetheless.

 

Is this even real? That’s 52 more bottles than I’ve ever seen.

 

I have never understood the hype behind Duty Free. You are already paying a higher cost because you are at an airport, so I feel like the “tax free” is a wash. However, as @KRAMERICA stated, if you are heading somewhere remote it may be your last chance at picking something up.

Not yet. Mainly went around to figure out what was available so I could make some wise decisions. Will start out with two Frey Ranch single barrels, per prior advice, one for me, one for @jandrews. Beyond that open to suggestions.

Mainly this has been bourbon tourism, aka window shopping.
