Just bought my '23 Pro in Feb.

At 500 miles the RF Strut starts making noise.

2 weeks later.... At 1300 miles, the strut has no rebound and is completely dead. Vehicle is squirrely AF, dives horribly when turning left and braking.

Dropped it off Monday morning at the dealer. Dead strut confirmed (Duh, I was a tech for nearly 20 years). Part should be in tomorrow.

Got the call today, wrong part ordered. Fox struts are back ordered with no ETA. Dealer estimates minimum 3 weeks.

Then they asked me to pick it up until the part comes in...

No. That's fucking stupid. Why would you do that? It'll fuck up more shit and wear out everything so much faster. They should know better.

I had a trip planned to go camping with my kids for spring break. Go do some trail riding with friends in another state.... Now I'm driving this loaner Tundra at 13MPG and making a payment on a truck I had for 5 weeks and won't see until May most likely. For a STRUT.

    So stupid.

You're in a free tundra? sounds like they are doing you right. Also call toyota and see if they can let you skip your stretch pay for the time your truck is out of commission.

    It's definitely nice.

    The fuel economy however....
It's also like driving a semi.. My wife won't drive it so I'm stuck commuting in it.

    What is this..... Stretch pay?

Edit: I forgot to mention, it wasn't exactly "Free". Part of the dealer markup on the Pro for $1500 was, loaners for life. The rest was tinted windows, paint coating and interior protection.

Welcome to TW, Justin. Maybe someone in here close to you has a spare strut you could use in the time being?? Good luck man!

The payments you're making. You can maybe ask them to skip 1 since your truck is out of commission for that long and it's that new. Ask.. nothing is guaranteed.

You're not the only one with bad luck with Toyota lately. We recently got a Corolla cross with the 2.0. Car stared to randomly stall at less than 500 miles. Dealer calls me and tells me it has a misfire on cylinder 2. Very strange to have such a nice strut fail so prematurely. Best of luck with you OP.

Oh, lol. That's fine. I just pay it off with less miles on the odometer.

The connected services however... That's more annoying. They should definitely comp a month of that.

Your wallet is happier without it, trust me bro.

    13MPG from a turbo V6.

I will say though, this Tundra engine has a sexy fucking growl.
I would pay $2500 for the Tacoma to sound like that vs what the Pro exhaust sounds like.
Go look it up. It's just raw, primal, POOOWWEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR (Insert Clarkson meme here) as an engine sound.

It is also like driving a sleeper cab.

Best joke I can come up with is that I could satisfy the wife in the back seat and since we're old now, we don't fold up like lawn furniture. It's HUGE

That sucks. If goes longer or you don't need a truck long term I would ask for a different car. In the past my dealer has tried to put me in the same class vehicle unless when I asked. Worked well for my road trip when I didn't need truck years ago.

Seems a bit excessive. Maybe if it blew out the front suspension and damaged the body... I certainly would then.

They'd probably like to resell it, I'd ask for documentation on the back ordered part.

I've emailed both Fox and Toyota. Let's see what happens.
