I'm pretty sure the answer is "no" but I just installed a set of 5100's on the front of my 3rd ge with OME 884's on them. I know the 884's are more of a 2nd Gen spring but I got a great deal from a local guy on this set up brand new and already assembled. I got about 1" out of them on the lowest notch and would like to just go up one notch to get about 1.8 inches. I'm guessing there's no way to squeeze a spring compressor in between the coil and upper A arm so I could slide the perch up and move the snap ring. Anyone actually do this?

No, there's no way to do it on the truck. The strut tower gets in the way of putting a compressor in there.

You can do the "no coil compressor method" but you still have to remove the strut from the truck, at least enough to change the clip height.

Thanks. That's kind of what I figured. I have an idea I'm going to try but I'm going to keep a spring compressor on standby just in case my idea doesn't work and if it does I'll share it here.

I, a weirdo, personally prefer the "no compressor" method of using the trucks bodyweight. Fewer body parts in the line of fire that way.

The top hat stays bolted to the shock tower. Everything else comes out. It's easier to walk a clip up a notch when the shock is on the floor.

Yeah, I hear you but if I'm just going to move the clip up one notch I've got no concerns compressing the spring a little and moving the clip up a notch. I've actually got the special pliers for those circlips from my days as a Mitsubishi tech.

Aftermarket springs are meant to be run on the zero setting on Bilstein. The numbers your referencing are on the clip settings are for factory springs.

I'm aware, moving it up one notch will yield about the same results either way. Just like adding a spacer to the top. Finished it up today and got the 7/8 of an inch I expected.

It’s a downside you have to remove even but at least it’s available .

it’s a bit of a gamble with 5100s and I’m batting .500 with customers trucks and heights.

It was the springs that didn't deliver what I was hoping for. I can't blame them, the rating was for them on a 2nd gen.
