All the dealers I've seen lately are asking 50k average. Ridgeline, Mustang GT, 4Runner, ect. Who the heck pays a $1000 a month on a car payment?

Jeep dealer near me wanted 70k+ for 4xe Wrangler Unlimited's.

Nah, they will just keep extending out loan terms to make the payments look appealing, there are already 96 month terms out there and a few 120

 

That is truly insane if people take out something that long, my ex-fiancé took out an 84 month loan for an Explorer, told her she was nuts.

 

Car loans are the new mortgages. I guess it depends on how bad you need a car, what you can afford and what you can tolerate to drive. The current interest rates for new vehicles are rather appalling too.

One of my neighbors just downsized from an stx f150 crewcab to a maverick. I'm willing to bet he was paying $1000 a month in gas. The STX trim F150s are over 50k I think. That's a chunk of cash for base vehicle.

 

How do you pay 1k a month in gas ? The Tacoma which gets worse mpg than a F150 doesn’t even crack $500 in most use cases in Cali

There’s enough Stupid people out there that keep paying these inflated prices.
I paid $36,800 for a new 4 Runner TRD off-road premium in 2017. Now some fools will pay almost double that because they got to have it now. We’re all screwed.

$1000/4.50 a gallon x18 mpg = 4000 miles per month or 48k miles per year. (Assuming Cali gas prices). That seems completely insane.

In Texas 6700 miles per month yep at $2.70 a gallon or 80k miles per year

 

Not really. That averages to about 130ish miles a day
