I did my research. The reviews said Toyotas are a little under powered. If you keep them at 6500 rpm all the time they are awesome!

I have the MT and it comes with 4.30 gearing from the factory. Unfortunately, it is still lacking in torque at rps less than 2500. At least I can hold the gears long with the MT.

Well I finally got my Jeep fixed. Drove it for a week to make sure I didn't make a mistake buying the Tacoma. Got 28 mpg on the highway. Took the Tacoma to town and sold it back to the dealership. Bye!

Keep that crap up, and you'll be needing valve work before it's time. All the oil changes in the world won't help you either.

I switched trucks from 2GR to 1GR (FJ), and back to 2GR. The power’s there, just different where you find it, and neither is going to win any drag races. Shift programming and ratios are very different paired w the 3.5 for relentlessly chasing that almighty extra mpg.

My standard advice is if you plan on hauling, towing, heavily modifying (weight) or you drive in the hills (gravity), be aware that an empty-bed dealership test drive around the block will probably not represent your day to day, and you might have regrets later. That’s not necessarily the truck’s (nor the owner’s) fault, but we seem to see a lot of complaints that are correlated.
