Bad ass truck mate. Love the high rise shell on the single cab. I’m rocking the same setup

What wheels do you have on that?

Also, I envy the high-rise shell with the windoors. The biggest regret I have is not getting the windoors for my shell.

Windoors are a life saver for a guy’s knees if you have to grab something from the front ugh.

Rims are the KMC grenade 535 in 16”. No spacers or anything and fit perfect. Hankook at2 265/75 tires, good lightweight tires for being all terrains

How do y'all feel about your 4cyls with 33s? (specifically skinnies). I am in the market for a 2nd gen and am trying to find the lowest mile, best shape, for lowest price ... this is bringing up a lot of reg/ac 4cyls.

Everyone on here and other pages are telling me to go with the V6, but these reg cab builds are reallyyyyy making me like them more. I want to do a 1-2" lift with some skinny talls (255/80/17 or 33/10.5/17), and maybe a camper shell.

I am 100% okay with not having a lot of "power" and truly could not care less about speed. I am coming from a lifted 99 4R with 33s and drive like a grandma. I'm sure the V6 would be "better," but when there are very low mile 4cyls for a few thousand less than the lowest V6s, I can't not be interested. thoughts?

Can I ask you a stupid question? Why are you asking us this question?
Sounds like you know what you want already!?
Plus you can always add power and gears. (More HP in the link below) *I* would just make sure to get a manual transmission. Plus if you really want a 4.0L V6 it’s known to bolt to the manual 5 speed & the radiators are the same. Now just figuring out the wiring.

I have a 2014 manual with 255/80/17 and a camper shell. The camper shell makes no difference, but when I went from stock to 33s power did take a hit. It's not enough to make me want to go down in tire size, but definitely noticeable.

I think the biggest thing you need to consider if you are wanting a regular cab is space. I do sometimes wish I had the access cab just for the sake of interior storage, however, with the shell it's not the biggest deal.

Regardless, I love my little truck more than just about anything.

Space is definitely a consideration. This won’t be my only vehicle so it won’t be like I’d be screwed. AC would probably be “smarter.” But also, right, I really love the idea of “little Toyota truck”…on 33s..

You can add dc storage bins and not lose leg room. Just have to remove jack bracket from floor, carpet from rear wall and window trim then they bolt right up.

2C546FB2-28B4-4447-8EB2-0C69044289D3.jpg Retrofit fans? I think this is coming out pretty sick. Don’t know if I’ll keep them or sell them but gonna paint them in a 2 tone scheme. Probably magnetic gray (grey primer) and a factory black (black primer). Super stoked on how it looks with the morimoto mod pod blinker/running lights

Personally more of an oem fan. I’d entertain adding some addressable led’s in em though

Making progress on our single / reg cab. Now I will need to dump the 3.73 gear and find a stock 3.31 gear. * Edit* Anyone have a super low mileage 3.31?

I figure it's about time for my reg cab to become more of a trail/camping rig.

Thinking my next modifications are to install small lift (like 1.5" or so), 265 75 R16's on stock steelies, and a regear to either 4.56's or 4.88's. Plan is not to go too overboard with the mods (at the moment at least lol). Any opinions?

I wouldn't bother with a regear unless you are going to 285's and up. Buy the tires first and then decide if that's still what you want to do.

Only reason I would do that if I was in your shoes is if I wanted lockers right now and also knew I was putting 34's on in the future.

Can we lowly 5 speed’ers handle an FJ pedal swap?
