Why is crap like this in foods we eat?!

 

Not good. I had a bowl of oatmeal with berries and honey. Got to have the heart health food. I occasionally eat a bowl of cereal, more often for lunch or a nighttime snack. I wonder if every cereal has this?

 

My wife and I eat shredded wheat and granola , try and eat healthy. Hopefully that stuff is not in there, going to read the label again. I do know it is extremely difficult to feed 8 billion people currently on the planet. Two of the largest cereal manufacturers in our country are just a few miles away from me, big employers, big political donors.

Shredded wheat okay, granola okay, the little round ones with the hole in the middle, not. Senior citizen on a broken income going to have to finish that box of crap. Thanks to you I am a more educated consumer . Thank you sir.

I do a lot of research as part of my regular duties and my 5 minute dive into these is....well.....I'm just shaking my head. People have been literally taking the same writing and reposting it everywhere without regard to fact checking for the past 5 years. I went into the FDA and did a little further dive and it's perfectly fine. Don't get me wrong...the FDA isn't exactly top on my list of awesome, but taking words off twitter, facebook, or a 2 star organization with only 78 staff members out of N California doesn't exactly exude much confidence.
I'm not wasting more of my time into this, but thought I would throw this out there for thought. Kinda like telling everyone not to eat apples because it has cyanide in it, which is true! But only the seeds.
I agree that we should have some balanced perspectives.

Personally, I've been questioning our food supply in general and chemicals used in and around our homes because Cancer rates are alarming. I've been like you....trying to stay with things that can't be messed with too much.

 

Thanks for the info ... I will use "Snopes" and other fact checkers before I levy an opinion on a post!!

 

this place is for opinions, so no need for fact checking stuff in general. I just have a habit of checking on things that seem to trigger an emotional response....kinda like getting an email saying your bill is overdue and you should log in here to pay it asap. lol

 

It’s not easy eating healthy, but I try. I do enjoy the occasional candy bar. I have two older sisters who have who never smoked, both have breast cancer. One is still fighting and winning, the other didn’t make it. Heredity , environmental exposure, and lifestyle.

 

Duly noted!! And I better answer my phone and get that extended warranty!!

Man, I haven't eaten a candy bar in years....but did I love those snickers bar and kit kats!!! lol All the money in the world and we can't find a solution to C....it's a world problem and we still can't solve it. My friend from Merck says it's a money thing for profit.
