I uninstalled the app once the 12 months was over but i never liked starting the truck through the app anyways. I recently installed it again in august because i picked up a 22 camry xse also.

A few things. the feature works with the Fob if equipped regardless of the app. That being said I installed a N2 in my 21 SR. Super easy and been a year no issues. I liked it cause it gave me a fob on top the remote start. I was annoyed by having to stick the key in the door all the time.

    Brand new.

Where did you purchase the N2 from, is it plug and play or do you have to splice in wires?

N2Designs is on TacomaWorld. If you have an automatic it's PnP.
For a manual I think there's one wire to cut or splice.

Believe two possible splices. One if you have a Manual and think another for TPMS. But don’t quote me on the second. My base truck had neither so super easy install all plug in play. The video on their website is a good walk thru and customer service is on point. Little pricy but worth every penny imo.

I think the TPMS only applies to an SR?

The timing is really really annoying but it's there...it's gotta be the perfect rhythm or it won't start.

Normal key (no fob) only get splice if manual trans.
H-key (key with fob) gets splice for TPMS and for manual trans.
    Push-to-Start is plug and play.

It should be known... The timing of the button presses to get the car to start is very finicky and must be perfect to work. It is frustrating and silly actually. It works for me the first time maybe 50% of the time. 23 TRD Sport. I plan to play with the timing a bit more at some point when I have extra time and really figure out what it wants. I thought it was slow... That obviously isn't working!

Mine is an N2 with OEM keyfob and it always seems to work first attempt. I don't know if I'm just lucky or if I have good timing or what.

I'm guessing the aftermarket ones work better! Mine is stock. I assume they made the timing frustrating to try and force folks to use the app... Which also sucks. I am still in my "connected services" year long trial. I could use my phone, but the cell signal where I park my truck is weak and that makes the app very unreliable as well. It does make me feel better that the Nanny services has to fight a bad signal to tell Toyota how poorly I'm driving the vehicle!

Very interested in this too something I'd like to have by next winter in my 2020 sr5.

I installed one from MPC in my Partners 2015 Wrangler unlimited and it works great with the factory key fob. It was also only like $129 for the Jeep. I didn't realize what I was missing not having remote start.
The version they sell for my Tacoma is $199 but requires cutting and splicing a wire somewhere. The jeep install was all plug and play. I did it in 30 minutes. Would like something like that which uses the factory keys.

    Just remember too though . . .
EVERY remote start for the Tacoma shuts off the engine when you open any door on the vehicle.

Arrr! That's so stupid. So then you need to start the engine again. With the jeep you just need to put the key in and turn it to the run position to unlock the wheel and you can drive off with the engine running the entire time.

Pretty sure that only applies to push to start. But I use mine less because of that.

Oh so maybe it's not like that with H key setups. Can anyone confirm?

On my 2020 Armada you just get in after the remote start, engine continues to run. With keyfob on you, depress brake pedal and press Start button, then drive off. Much more sensible than the Toyota method of killing the engine.
