I'm glad it all worked out, and always happy to talk through the product selection process! Happy to hear that it's still going strong.
We currently have them on sale for $560ish shipped over here at Hotshot Offroad :anonymous:

Has anyone that used the 6112’s switched to Dobinson or vice versa?

Had to ask since Im narrowing my decision between their IMS & Bilstein’s 6112 set up.

Both seem to offer what Id want. 2” in the front 1-1.5 in the rear to keep rake and similar ride quality.

    Thanks again fellas.

I was thinking about Dob IMS, but went with 6112 again for my new Tacoma. I have them on my 4Runner and they have been great. Also, I heard the IMS have to be rebuilt and you have to seen them in. I didn’t want to deal with that.

FML I just scrolled through what seemed 3 generations of 6112’s to find out there’s more settings?!

Hopefully last question? For the 6112/5160 set up.

Where do I need to have it set for stock rated 600lb coils, pre-assembled.
1.5-2” in the front & keep some rake in the rear? (eventually I will do a full leaf pack replacement)

    planning on keeping my 265/65/17’s
Falken Wildpeak ATW and or similar tires

So stock Tacoma rake is about 1" front to rear. If you lift 1.5" up front you will now be .5" lower in the rear. If you want to maintain rake you should plan to lift the rear the same amount as the front. Given what you're asking I would probably say to put 6112 settings to 10/8 and plan to lift the rear 1-2" with a block, AAL, etc.

If you have more questions or need help we can help you here at Hotshot Offroad. Call me whenever 406-936-0206 and we can get you all squared away, and even get you all of the parts you need.

Thinking about getting a set of these. Is the set height pretty close to what Bilstein states? I am planning to have them set to either #7 / #5 for .7" or #8 / #6 for 1". Planning on leaving the truck at factory height and just wanted to bring the front up a tiny bit but have better shocks than factory OR.

Yes, Bilstein height chart is pretty accurate.

Looking to get the exact same set up 10/8 and rxt at 1 in the rear

Has this settled at all? Do you mind getting new measurements when you have a chance? Thanks!

Looking into leveling out my truck and replacing my factory off-road shocks with some 6112’s set at 1” and 8100’s (smooth bodies). That being said does anyone have any experience going from 5160’s to 8100’s? Had the 6112/5160’s on my previous 2nd gen and weren’t too impressed with the 5160’s. Figured the bigger diameter 8100’s would be a better improvement. The 8100 rear shocks I am referencing are these. Part Number 25-294064

What didn't you like about the 5160s? The major improvement that you would find by going up to these is that they are going to be more resistant to fade. In terms of day-to-day driving though they won't be "too" much of a change. They're valved similarly.

Whether you go with the 8100s or 5160s we have them both as well as 6112s here on the shelf at Hotshot Offroad

The 5160’s were by no means horrible, but I would’ve wanted a little more dampening that would soak up bumps similar to how the 6112’s up front did. I later swapped the 5160’s for some adjustable King 2.5’s and those rode great on and off-road. So much so I ended up going adjustable King coilovers in front as well. That full King setup was very nice. I know comparing the Bilstein to Kings are apples to oranges as they are valved differently, but thought maybe the bigger diameter 8100’s would provide me that extra dampening over the 5160’s.

Yeah they'll be an improvement for sure, but I wouldn't expect some world-changing feel per se. They will handle the hard and continuous hits better for sure, but the basic valving will feel similar to how a 6112 feels up front in terms of when they are firm vs when they are compliant.

Got it, thanks for taking your time and giving me some insight. You mentioned you carry the 8100’s at Hotshot Off-road as well? I was on the site last night and found the 6112’s but not 8100’s, just 5160’s? Maybe I wasn’t looking hard enough

No you aren’t seeing them. We have a MESS going on with Bilstein data right now, and I know for a fact they’re gone because the pricing kept getting auto-updated wrong. Shoot me a pm with your pick list and I’ll get you a full quote drummed up!

    Sorry for the late reply,

I can measure it for you but the tent is off the truck until May so the rear would not be apples to apples. Just visually I would say it's not much settling if any, there is still a ~1" rake and it's definitely lifted 1-2" over stock just eyeballing it. One thing I have noticed is the loss of downtravel, even on the roads sometimes I hit a pot hole or a bad spot in the road and I can feel it hit the bottom extended range... But man it feels comfy hitting a speed bump.

I would appreciate it if you don't mind measuring when you get a chance. I actually appreciate the measurements more without the tent since I won't have a rear load

    Thanks again!
