I took issue with mine because you have to list a person, you cannot list a non-profit

You could predate a bunch of emails to send out incrementally after your death to constantly remind the person that you are watching them and they best make good on their promise

or do what Walter White did (speaking of Breaking Bad) and hire a couple dudes to follow them around for a few years with a laser pointer under the premise that they're being watched by a sniper

One of my favorite books has a character that does this, they hired people to do little things and leave items around for years after they died. Interesting idea for a company, if people are still executing your plans after you're dead you might feel a bit less dead to those left behind.

Daemon by Daniel Suarez did a similar thing, except it reacted to new articles and did a lot more than sending emails…

Speaking of insurance, I would need to go through an attorney to form a living trust right?

I'm in my dad's trust which is why I own a few silencers in Texas, but would like to form one for when I kick the bucket and Theo keeps our home without paying elevated property taxes on it.

I'm sure you make more than me

It's just for the houses and personal stuff. Thing is, we wouldn't want to burden him with paying a bunch of taxes on inherited property.

I think they still get the option to sell the property rather than take ownership and then the taxes just come out of that. Probably something I should ask about too actually.

Rebecca knows a bunch about this stuff because her grandparents left her and her brother quite a bit of inheritance in $ and their house when they died, I know they had to jump through all kinds of hoops for years to get it all settled out. My mom recently put me in charge of all that stuff when she dies and I think the only reason she did is because she knows Rebecca will know what to do, because I have zero clue lol.

Being in a living trust, he will own said property as his own without ever having to do anything.

If we had no living trust, he would need to do legal paperwork to inherit (even if to sell), sales taxes would need to be collected on its current value.

All that is skipped with the living trust.

Yeah my dad at the wedding, told me he's got an investment set up with my name on it for when he's gone. He invests really well in a lot of stocks and other stuff; super smart about it. So I guess that'll help for Theo if he decides to attend college out of state.

I'm fairly certain you never have to go through an attorney for anything but it's probably strongly advised.

yeah I think that's wise, you never know in time...between now and then who might want to contest the will when you're gone or argue certain points in it. Not to mention making sure the gov gets as little as possible, I would rather pay someone to guide me through that then have the state decide for me or them
