He made it simple enough to get me started. That shit might as well have been another language  My camera is just a beginner one, but way over my head. Last camera I had was a basic digital one back in the early 2000's

Mike is by far the best photographer I know. Listen to him......you can't wrong following his directions

I'm enjoying this getting darker later, just don't care for the chill off the lake here at work.

No books come to mind but I did view Peter McKinnon videos a bit. The best advice I was given was from @medic2230 (Murph) when he told me to go manual from the beginning. Don't use auto and play with the settings. Lower ISO = less grainy. Still learning tricks along the way but it's fun messing with the settings and seeing what you come up with. It's not like your wasting film . There were other youtube videos I watched on settings for night photography or timelapse with Nikon. Also the guys at Cameragraphics are very helpful. They are willing to explain things if they aren't too busy and give you tips.

Here are settings I used for this lightning shot.
    ISO 100 f/9.0 Focal length 14mm, 10 second exposure. Lens was 14-24 mm f2.8
I used Bridge (by Adobe) to stack two separate shots thus creating more strikes in one shot.

No, actually those were LED lights on the ship. I guess that is what Bob Ross would call a happy little accident.

There really is something to keeping these tacomas at or under 2k rpms. My average fuel economy since October of 22 is 13.1 mpg. Never gotten better than 14.3. On this trip I decided to keep it at or under 2k as much as I could. (69 mph on the interstate). Over 300 miles and 2 fuel ups I have averaged 16 mpg. I'm shocked because there is no less than 500 lbs of junk in the bed plus the wife and 2 kids.

I gassed up twice on my trip to Indianapolis from Cusseta. I should have calculated the gas mileage I guess. 629 miles there I believe it was. I took the long way back thru Cincinnati and Knoxville. That was only about 30 miles farther and still only filled up twice. Note that I wasn't loaded with camping gear etc. etc. Only my camera bag and suitcase.

Even empty with cruise set on 75 and about 2500rpm, I get between 12 and 15 depending on which way the wind is hit the truck.

I don't carry the gear you all do but with my bed empty and stock height. I'm averaging 23 to 27 mpg , I do have a tonneau cover so that might be part of it.

I tried to get good mpg for the first few tanks but the best I could do is 18.1. I have pretty much quit checking. Coming from a Prius it’s just going to hurt my feelings.
