This is a mash up of like 4 stores, but many of these are from Pyramid Discount Liquor, which is not remotely discounted, in fact the opposite. But, single best selection I have ever seen.

The best selection at reasonable prices was the southernmost Lee’s Discount Liquor.

Some excellent finds and a few good prices in there! Gonna be hard to pick only 5 or 6 to put in the checked baggage. I’d certainly grab at least one Sweet Wheat. In all my travels I’ve yet to come across one.

I was at the same store about a year ago having this same conversation with myself about the Sweet Wheat. I love wheaters…however at $150+tax, very hard pill to swallow.

Even harder after seeing this, albeit on an empty shelf:

Ugh. The worst. That bottle is very high on my list to buy. But, same as you, I’ve never seen it below $150. Maybe someday.

I did pick up some other wheat-y things today.

It is a good bottle, I would not put it with Redbreast, but it's better (to me) than Bushmills Black.

Curious about JD 7. I havent found it that bad, not high proof, not something I would pay much for, but it's pretty cheap in general and it's always the same. I'm more of a Wild Turkey 101 drinker, but I keep a JD Green (when I can find it) on hand. Prefer green to black as green tastes a little hotter.

I normally stay out of whiskey discussions as my opinons run counter to many (rarity does not equal quality).

Not stirring the pot, just curious.

Not complex, not particularly good, clearly intended to be mixed at frat parties.

The ironical part...is that JD Single Barrel Barrel Proof is fucking fantastic. I put it in my top 3 whiskies. Perhaps they're selecting killer barrels, or perhaps proof does matter to that degree for JD.

I am 100% wanting to try Coy Hill, JD10, abd JD12 if I can find them for reasonable prices.

The JD10 really knocked my socks off, can't wait to find a bottle to bring home. And based on that taste I think I'd buy the 12 without sampling first

Can’t remember if it was in the photos or not, but I came across a JD10 here…for $350.

Fair enough, I'm not the target audience I guess. I dont require interesting, just good. I approach whisky like I do a T bone, I just have to like it. I havent swished one around to taste the nuanced flavors, I just take a drink, if it's good I take another drink. I dont see the mixing at frat parties, JD is great to have around if you are offering a drink to people who arent whisky drinkers. No better way to push someone away than to let their first experience be a Port Charlotte, Garrison Balmorhea or a JD single barrel.

I wasnt too impressed with the single barrel, seemed one dimensional to me. It wasnt bad, but I didnt get all the sudden enthusiasm.

Variety is good, so enjoy your living cause you're a long time dead

First crack of a Mellow Corn. Have never had it and wanted to try a few lower price point bottles that I’ve read about on here. it’s a different pour for sure but not bad. Not sure I would sip this but I think it might make a great cocktail or be a great spritzer bottle for my buddy. Will have to try it a few different ways.
