Very true. Hmm, I’ll have to sell the idea on a used car. Her car isn’t bad and is under 100k on the clock. Plenty of life left in it.

Having owned both a Subie - Impreza - and a Runner I can say both have their pros and cons.
Runner was much more confortable both in interior space and overall ride.
Cargo was almost a wash - you wouldn't believe the crap I could fit in that little Subie when I needed to
Obviously the Subie was a lot better on gas
As far a winter driving was concerned Subie's biggest downfall was height clearance. Otherwise the AWD was invincibe - survived a few MT winters and a couple AK winters too. Runner was awesome in the winter too but only if I had 4WD engaged.

I think my wife would prefer AWD vs 4WD. The Forester has decent ground clearance and with 4 studded snows is invincible. I’d say it handles snow covered roads better than my Tacoma. It’s turbo and is a blast to drive. I just don’t know if I can drop $45K or more on a new vehicle.

Unfortunately I know people that would, on days that they don’t have time to swing through the drive through for the Mc death breakfast combo with large coke.
It’s not me, was coworkers. My cholesterol level would go up just watching.

AWD is nice. I do kind of miss that. I think the only advantage for you guys would be the larger more comfy interior

I had an outback wagon for a few years. It was comfy and did extremely well in crappy weather/light snow. It held a ton of cargo with the back seats flipped down, almost as much as the 3rd gen T4R. The gas mileage was "ehhhh", 24 on average from what I remember. I got it because I was going to sell the T4R, but after a while I realized that the 'runner was a better overall vehicle for me at the time. When the Subie decided that it wanted an engine ( at 150K on the clock), it got traded in for the Taco.
