Took this weekend off from skiing. Next week is my kids spring break so naturally we are going skiing all next week. Took the opportunity with some down time to complete the skid plate reinstalls. Even got the oldest to crank on the old wrench set. I put nylon spacers in between the plates and the truck. Hoping that solves the low rpm skid plate Humm I had last time.

I'm a bit of a hot wheel hunter. Today, was a very very good day. These are very hard to find. I've stopped in no less then 100 stores over the last year to find it.

The thrill of the hunt, never tires.

Haven't given the truck a wash since I drove it home almost 3 months ago. Seattle weather has been all over the place but super clear day today so just stopped by for a quick self-wash rinse (don't worry - didn't use the brush).

Not a real wash but felt good to rinse off the thin layer of dirt. No polishing or anything but tried to get a close-up of the paint and it's slight pearlescent/metallic (I don't know which it is)

Any Seattle-area Solar Octanes? I still haven't seen another SO on the road!

Been away from the TRD Pro world for a few years, as our first child and a cross-country move forced me to move my Cement Pro back in 2019.

But I'm back. Too bad this market is absolutely nuts. I've been searching all over Nevada and no one sells these without enormous markups. I got notified one was in stock today and I went to look at it. Too bad the GM wouldn't budge below a 10k above MSRP markup. I understand the market is what it is...and capitalism has its pros and cons...it would be nice for a win for the little guy every now and then!

Any advice on MSRP deals for these bad boys? I lucked into my Cement Pro at MSRP in Mobile several years ago...maybe I'm living in an alternate reality in my head...

****I love all the pictures of these SOs. Can't wait to find one.

It's a rough go. I'm guessing you've looked up any allocations using Toyota's inventory searcher? I basically called every dealership that had one being built or in transit (or on the lot) until one of them told me they'd sell at MSRP (it was on the lot) I had to fly 900 miles to get it but it was worth it for a manual transmission I was looking for.

I appreciate the info! I haven't used the inventory searcher. So any allocations that have been created should be there, whether its scheduled to be built, being built, in transit, or on the lot?

I'll look more into that. I know traveling will have to happen, but no issues there. Thanks again.

Yep. Might already be pending but it should say if it’s been allocated, in the build phase, or in transit. If there’s no status it should mean it’s delivered on the lot. Some dealers may not have it listed on their site inventory yet but should be able to give them the VIN in the inventory search.

Color is too loud to add more, IMO.

The spreadsheet is great, but also try setting up search alerts in side auto trader carguru ect... you can customize for color transmission all sorts of stuff. It will email you once a day, or you can set it so the alert comes the moment the truck is posted. Most those trucks have large markups, most are actually spoken for, but some of them are for sale at msrp. That's how I found mine. I called all the MT solar octane alerts I got. Also, offer to buy the truck if the original buyer backs out. It turns out a lot of these trucks are reserved on a "wish list" but when it comes in whamo. Buyer backs out. That was my truck. It was sitting on the lot. I literally left work in the middle of a meeting because the dealer wouldn't hold it. Flew from Colorado to San Francisco.... pay attention to out of state tax. In my case California was only 1.7% higher then Larimer County Colorado so it was only a few hundred bucks not a deal breaker... but some states like California require you to pay California tax or have a transport vehicle haul it to Nevada. A head ache and hassle for 500 bucks

Last time I got an alert there was 1... 1 solar octane MT for sale in the entire US. That was a few days ago. Good luck. I will keep my eyes open 4 a msrp solar octane.....

I appreciate all that info. I'm not sure on the spreadsheet you speak of. I've been looking over the inventory page on toyota's website. Maybe there is something I'm missing.

Similar to your situation, a dealer here knew what my wants were and someone backed out this morning. I appreciate them calling, but weren't willing to budge off 10k markup. I know most of the country deals with the same, but I know there are gems out there. Just gotta find them. As for California State Tax, that's interesting they charged you for that. I wouldn't be registering it there, but would just drive it straight home. I guess we will cross that bridge if that time comes...

Again, thanks for all the info!

I bought in California and live in Washington. What my dealer did was charge me the lowest California state sales tax number and give me a one way trip permit home, then titled the truck in CA. This was super annoying as I had to wait for it to get through CA DMV before I could get a copy to transfer it to a WA title. Their argument was because I was driving it, they had to register it and charge me the sales tax. I asked if they could charge me the higher sales tax % of where I live in WA so I could roll all of it into financing but they said they couldn’t.

Wherever you buy from, call your local DMV and ask the best process for them to get the info. Then talk to the state dmv of where you’re buying so you hear from both parties on what needs to happen. The dealer doesn’t know sometimes.

I believe you and I got our trucks out of the same batch. I saw your road trip adventure. Mine was within a few days of yours. At that time there were like 4 or 5 MT solar octane in the greater bay area.

Which would make us truck brothers.
