Yeahhhhh, if I'm not gonna get a hundo for it I don't bother anymore - I'll put it out to the curb and list "free" or just give it to someone I know. It's just not worth dealing with the nonsense. I sold a truck on CL years ago and it was a nightmare.

    Jeep here, but same.

I have 2 bikes up right now, so far just scammers but hoping they'll go once the season takes off.

Somehow, Tacomaworld has been the best place for buying and selling for me :spy:

yup, sold my ninja a few years ago on CL. It was the top gun bike so a lot of guys were older nostalgia seekers, but man i was on CL everyday adding stipulations like no phone offers, must see. I mean people wanted me to knock off 500 without even looking at it. Out of state guys wanting me to hold it for them without down payment.

I just sold my 'old' mountain bike on Facebook MP. Took a bit, I sort of forgot about it, then some kid messaged me out of the blue and picked it up last weekend.

I have been clearing house and selling things on Facebook (mainly old kid toys) - I have learned to not care about how a sale goes down anymore. I get too many people asking if I can hold something so they can pick it up on the weekend. I'll try but if I get another offer for a pickup now, it's fair game. Used to feel bad telling someone I sold it from under them, but I've been burned more than once doing it.

At least I don't have to go through Craigslist anymore.

Yeah I've had that happen too.

Speaking of which, do you want a 26" HT by any chance?

I actually may convert it to a stage 2 e bike, but it's currently up for sale, along with my old BMX. I haven't looked for the specific group pages to cross-post it onto though, to be more active about pawning things off.

eBay is the same way. People send me the dumbest questions most of which are described in the description. Then I got a ton of messages with low ball offers or asking me to cover shipping. WTF is wrong with people.

Facebook has one thing for it - it ties to your profile, so you can find a profile and think "HMM, that doesn't seem...'right', ignore!"

I check out profiles before I even respond and have found plenty where they change the profile pictures to wildly different people over time. "My brother's dog's groomer's cousin will come pick it up"

I've had reasonable luck buying and selling on Craigslist, but I'm very cautious how I deal with people. I've had mixed luck on Facebook, but my wife has sold some stuff there.

I've had good luck selling even non firearms stuff on a firearms forum.

We're doing a lot of house clearing so we have a lot of stuff to dispose of. I've sorted out a lot of the stuff I've accumulated over the years and am going to two different flea markets next month. We're also going to have a garage sale in either May or June.

If we actually move, we plan to minimize what we bring with us.

BTW, is the selling sub forum only for automobile stuff or can other stuff be listed?

I've had decent luck selling on all the platforms which very few horror stories, outside of the guy who peed on my house (yes, you read that right...)

The only issue I have with forums / specialty FB groups is the pricing on anything less than desirable doesn't match the open market, especially with things like stock parts. Most people give away their spare tires on the forums and I sold one of mine for $100, for example. Stock wheels will get much more money outside the forum. That being said, it's a great place to land a deal. What's always fun is how an enthusiast forum or the cesspool of FB groups values cars relative to the open market. Nearly every WRX I've seen for sale on a FB group gets shredded by the same 2-3 people before being 50% overpriced, even if they're the lowest car for sale on FB Marketplace. Where do people find these insanely stellar deals that they assume any car over $5,000 is overpriced?

I remember the days of running an ad in the newspaper to sell cars. Worst was my old Datsun 280ZX. Frame was rotted and it needed a lot of cosmetics etc so it was up $400. Guy comes and offers $150, I said no. He then starts picking apart every minor scratch, ding, etc. It's 10 years old and $400 WTF, finally says okay $200 I can get my buddy to lend me the $50. Told him I was done wasting time if he really came this far (over an hour) to look at a $400 with $150 in his pocket.

    Which old BMX we talking

Same here, at least in my limited experience. Any old video games or bmx?

I feel like the peeing story needs to be shared..haha

Re cars, I think it's knee jerk since it seems a lot of people do way overvalue their stuff.

Sorry, no video games or BMX. Lots of hardware, some tools, an older Windows 10 laptop, and a million other things. I might have a metric wrench or two, but no 10mm. ;)

 See, this is what I mean about better luck here than facebook

I think newer than you're into. 2008 Hoffman Bama - seth kimbrough sig frame, built up. Modern/new school, not the old school stuff you're into.

26" mountain bike - Are you thinking of a vroom vroom bike?
