I received my package today. Sorry for the poor photos but passenger and driver’s side included. No email or paperwork yet if the old ones have to go back. So they were quick in responding. From last Friday to today Friday 03/31/2023.

 

Nice! Can you tell if it is the new design? The picture looks like the old design, so I'm just curious.

 

He had the old ones and submitted for the new ones. That's what he meant about "No email or paperwork yet if the old ones have to go back."

 

New Design.

This is the new design. So they replaced both which makes me happier. No emails as of yet if the old ones needs to go back. You can also see all the new hardware.

 

Received a "Your order has been processed" email for my replacements today.

If they don't want the V1s back I'm actually leaning toward leaving the passenger side in place since it seems to be working fine.

 

I just received the same email about an hour ago. I'm thinking the exact same if they don't want the V1 back.

@CaliRaisedLed do you know if we need to send our V1 shields back? Would love to know so when I go to install the new version I can install both sides of V2 to send both sides of V1 back. Honestly, my passenger side is fine (V1).

 

Yeah, I knew he was getting replacements. Just couldn't tell from his first pic if it was the new design. But looking at it again, I can see the new hardware and should have known. Thanks for trying to clarify.

 

I sent an e-mail today. I don't like doing things twice. I am sending mine back. They are still in the box. Thanks for the e-mail address.

 

Ordered mine on 02/22/2023 and just received them today. Looks like I got the v1. I'll reach out to see if I can get v2 of the driver side and wait for a response before installing it.

 

I received V2 today. The driver’s side did not fit. The shield would not line up with the holes where the security screws go.

I followed the video, then tried tightening the replacement bolts to see if that would pull or bend it into position, and nope.

it may have been cut or bent wrong. I don’t know.

This is as close as it got.

 

On the video if I am not mistaken they screwed the crossbar but not tight then the safety bolt, but maybe is still not perfect. Is your vehicle a 4X4. I just got the replacement today and would hate to go through removing and the new ones not fitting properly. Thanks.

 

Yeah I did it per the video first, which didn’t work. Then tried tightening the bolts to see if that would pull it closer to lined up. No dice.

Yes 4x4.

I’m hopefully going to try the passenger side tomorrow. I ran out of time today messing with the driver side.

Edit: judging by the pictures on their website I was sent the 2WD version instead of the 4WD version. My Order def states I ordered the 4WD version.

 

Good to know. I haven’t seen the 2WD version, just curious . I have to wait till the middle of the week. Had eye surgery can’t do anything in it. I should be clear to worked on it in a few days. Will keep you posted. I have a 4X4 as well and just like you that’s what I indicated. Thanks.

 

Well, that's a little worrisome. The two emails I've received about my replacements say "Catalytic Converter Shield Fits 2016 - 2023 Tacoma × 1
4WD 6 Cylinder".

Hope they just had an mis-pick on yours. Think I'll wait to hear how the v2 works for others before I start pulling anything apart though.

Well, I'm in for the fun. I've been thinking about ordering one but figured I'd wait until things got sorted a bit. Yesterday, I got an email from my insurance company recommending considering installing a shield...so I pulled the trigger on the order this morning. Hoping it gets here in time to install before the trip we're planning on taking in a few weeks.

 

Received my V2 set yesterday, was also surprised when I opened the box that I was sent both sides. Going to install this morning, hopefully everything lines up properly . I’ve been rolling with the just the passenger side since removing the vibrating driver side shield a few weeks ago. If Driver goes on smoothly I may go ahead and put the V2 pass shield on as well. We shall see!

Anyone have an idea of current order to ship times? The order page says 3 to 4 weeks. Is that holding true or has it been shorter/longer? Hoping to get mine before a trip I'm taking in a few weeks.
