It's felt like a cardboard and cash avalanche through the mailbox for the last few weeks.

One of these days ill start looking into the Haltech rabbit hole.

Go time is definitely getting closer.
I got the 78°c thermostat, IK22 spark plugs, 6quarts of 0w40, and a Tundra filter on standby.

I need to get some fresh ATF type IV and FIPG for the TransGo install (my trans fluid isn't very old but it got hot a few times before I got around to installing the Hayden trans cooler and it's just whatever fluid Jiffy Lube used when they flushed it after I got it) otherwise that's read to go in.

I will probably pick up some fresh coolant to go in the radiator after the timing belt and water pump install and I'm still waiting for the FIPG for the thermostat housing.

I've also been considering ordering an oil pump since I have no idea if its ever been touched and adding more oil dependant parts just seems like a good idea to make sure it's it in tip top shape.

I've got a spare fuel pump I'm going to see if I can rob the electrical connector from to make the Aeromotive fuel pump plug and play when i drop the tank. Not sure if there's anything special I need to do with the wiring since it's going to be living its life in the gas tank. From my experience the gaskets around the fuel pump hanger assembly shrink pretty quickly and the FSM indicates them as non reusable so I did order a new gasket.

I still have no idea what I'll do for the air intake filter box.

I still need to talk to the exhaust shop about building the down pipe for me. I'm also thinking about having then modify the DT headers and adding a V band flange in place of the notoriousy leaky ball flange and either squirrel them away for another build or sale them.

You will have to cut about 3/4 of an inch off of your fuel pump line on the bracket. The Aeromotive pump is just a hair taller. So you'll need to dremel with a cut off wheel or I suppose you could saw it by hand with a hacksaw.

I think this is the most nerve racking thing on the list to do for some reason. Everything else I am pretty familiar with and have no problems tackling, but opening up the trans valve body makes me start over thinking haha

Are you trying to utilize the stock box? Why not a AEM cone filter?

Messing with the transmission does feel a little sketchy but I think it will be alright. Timmy's got a video on the Transgo kit that should have all the info I need.

Regarding the air box I would like to maintain my snorkel not necessarily the air box. That may go out the window at some point but the plan is to keep it functional

Tank is empty now so I guess it's time for that (I probably should have started hours ago instead of procrastinating but I did finally get the frame ground from @Speedytech7 installed so that's nice to have checked off the list. I also happened to notice that the motor ground was disconnected :anonymous:

My fuel trims seem to be reading more accurately now :notsure:

That’s the oil pump….hopefully it’s dripping down and not weeping through the oil pump there. Looks red so best thing would be the water pump.

Sorry. Added to the comment. Just my anxiety from accidentally loosening the oil pump bolt when blindly trying to loosen the lower alternator bracket bolt

I did just replace the alternator so I could where you are coming from.
It's definitely coolant, I was actually contemplating adding the oil pump and seals to the timing belt and water pump job so I was wondering if you knew something I didn't when you saw the coolant.
I still need to see what extra work it would require.
@Speedytech7 said it's a bit more work but that's literally all I know. I didn't have much luck looking for answers on my quick YouTube search.

I'd prefer to get any possibly needed maintenance done in one clean sweep instead of opening it back up 6 months down the road.
I almost took more pictures in the garage today. There's definitely a little oil coming from either the back side half moon or the valve cover on the driver side that's dripping on the header. I've wondered If it has something to do with the exhaust leak blowing right there :notsure:

It looks to me like the majority of the oil is coming from the oil pan seal but it also seems like there's something leaking around the oil cooler.

On the bright side the passenger side seems to be dry

I’m going to blame the small screen of a iPhone mini. Zooming in it’s definitely red. Anyway, the the half moons are doing what they do. Mine were leaking when I did my valve covers with no exhaust leak. it’s probably common seeing that people reseal those when doing valve covers.

I will say with those coolant leaks in more than one spot it might not be a bad idea to check the valley, especially if you plan on replacing the knock sensors or harness. You’ll also want to check the heater hoses and actuator for the heater core. Mine crumbled when I took the hoses off.

My lower intake gaskets rusted away and pitted the heads around the coolant passages. It was a tedious process to clean all the gunk up. I assume the coolant was old and started to eat things.
Just something to look at. Unfortunately, it’s not really possible to just check the valley for coolant without taking it all apart.

I'd like to pitch in some motivation. Here's a video of my buddy's 300ZX with an engine we built together in my garage in a couple days and a tune we threw together on the road about 2hrs before the dyno session.

Made 431HP and 440lb ft of torque
    https://youtu.be/av__yTJiTpQ

Here is that same engine with a tune we spent even more time on and some more boost.

646HP and 632lb ft of torque
    https://youtu.be/j04aPqKGlOw

With some friends and a bit of time you can make crazy shit happen, it's not just the youtube stars and pro racers that get to have all the fun and success.

Engine glamor shot too cause the vid doesnt show it

My grandfather who went with me and picked up this Tacoma is really excited to see how the turbo goes. Back in the mid 70's he was the first person to install a turbo on a specific helicopter engine and broke the world altitude record with it. The record stood for over 30 years and I believe for that specific helicopter he still holds the record. Ordinary people can do extraordinary things especially when they have help. I'd love to have access to his old shop for sure

Finally got the right size clamps for the BOV plumping. (that should not have taken me 3 tries to get right)

I also think I've found the 1/4NPT to AN4 fitting I was looking for to use the plug right below the oil pressure sensor as an alternative oil feed option.
