That unit should shut down as soon as you get off the seat with the deck running. It should not sputter then die.

 

Cleaning up my stand by gennie. Found some corroded wire terminals. OCD requires me to go thru the whole unit.

 

Thanks for following up. I'll look to see if there is any mechanical adjustment I can make to the switch mounting. Maybe it isn't closing (or opening) quickly and fully when the operator gets off the seat. I don't know if I have a schematic diagram for the machine or not. I suppose it is designed to short out the ignition spark when getting off the seat?

 

Generally, that is how all safety switches work no matter the brand.

Sends the coil shut down wire to ground and the engine cuts off immediately.

do any of you fellas have a lawn thatching attachment? curious if thats worth doing. getting some yards for the garden and wondering how much i care the extra helps. maybe some prep? dont really make lawns an art.

 

Not me. I m fine with crab grass. It's green enough for me.

I do respect those that have a quality, thick green lawn. I'm just not wired that way.

Yes that's it. Looking through files on my computer I also see that I had downloaded a newer (2022) revision of the document you linked back when i got the mower. It includes info for additional engines that came into use due to the Covid supply chain issues. I do see that the parts list document shows an electrical diagram on the last page.

Removed the enclosure. Makes it a lot easier to clean the thing.

 

Those bastard got everywhere! They gained access thru the natural gas grommet.

 

They even snuck into the air cleaner housing. I'm not sure how they did that.

 

Cleaned up...Mostly. waiting on a terminal block and a starter.

Of course Generac used their own starter. Even though this starter looks like a Kohler starter, it don't fit.

I didn't even think of that. We had a 24kw installed last July. I guess I should take a look.

I'm gonna take a look tomorrow when I cut the grass. It's set to run for 5 minutes at 10am every Tuesday. It ran this week, so I'm probably ok. But I'm gonna look for any potential entry points.

Did this come with those thrust bearings from the factory? Regardless, it's gonna make steering a breeze!

 

Nope. Just bushings and metal on metal. I can tell the difference without the blower on it as it is. So I’m sure it’s going to save the steering on it next winter. For $20.00 it Was a no brainer while I had the tractor hanging from the rafters from the winch.
