I just finished all the projects at my rental and packed the Milwaukees away for now. Ready for listing Monday, hopefully it’s rented by the 1st, and I can start replacing the windows…

I recently received 3 milgard stain grade windows with stainless hardware. The QC was so bad we rejected all 3, which took a fight and pretty bad experience. Talking with a couple local contractors and window shops brought a lot of comments that milgard isn't what it used to be which in my mind was decent middle of the road in the before times.

I recently discovered Fleetwood sliders which seem to be a step up in quality and seemingly price too. Am thinking to migrate the windows to sliders as such. Delivery times are bad no matter who we talk to.

Am also curious what the sweet spot is for windows these days. I am replacing Andersen windows that have a fiberglass exterior over wood core that delaminated pretty badly. I peeled the loose laminate off and painted the wood cores last year. Am starting to consider it good enough.

I wish I had more of a choice and budget, I’ll be replacing 1-2 at a time to stay below the threshold of permitting and hurricane specs. It’s kind of silly the house has been here without window damage for 70 years but if I replace more than a 1/4 of the windows all the windows will need hurricane rating or shutters. I’ll start by replacing the worst offenders and west facing first. West facing are the windows you see from the street. That will also add curb appeal.

On the phone with Milwaukee now. Was just told this is a known issue and that many of these saws have been returned as a result. They're trying to find me one from a batch that doesn't have the issue. Otherwise, currently on backorder until 4/11. Ugh. I'm going to escalate and insist some free shit.

Look like you're having some bad luck. I'm lucky to have a Milwaukee tool reseller near me that handles warranty claims.

Was there any bad batch on the 8.0 battery?

    4 run, 2 don't
    Question.

Apparently there's a 'Milwaukee' store opening up in the next town over; do they run the same sort of promo deals that Home Depot runs IE free battery or free tool with purchase of another specific tool?

    That and military discount?

Not sure what store is opening, but there's a Grainger and an electrical supply house near my local Home Depot that both sell Milwaukee and they don't run/honor the same deals that Home Depot offers. They've both insisted that the tools they sell are different than those at HD. Tool #'s are all the same and the Milwaukee Rep at my Home Depot confirmed that there's no difference.

I would hope this new store would have a Military discount.

Oh there will be some mods all right
New tools! The M18 inflator is a solid tool, way heavier than I thought it would be. Tested both out and both and first impressions are looking good.

There's one in Atlanta that I went to. They do warranty repairs in house, they only sell milwaukee tools, they have all the newest tools, they have pretty much every tool in stock so you can try out 5 different drills at once.

Carrying a variety will probably be my downfall, that and if they carry the majority of their bits.

Home Depot is awesome, and I've got a ton of scores over the years (buy one get one, partial returns on bundles for tools not needed, mil discount) but they seem to have a small variety of stuff.

I absolutely love their cobalt drill bits as I often drill into steel and nothing else.

    EFFING MILWAUKEE!!

This is how replacement saw #2 arrived today. WTF!!!

I don't even know if this is a new/used saw. Still had the rough slide issue, bevel knob was busted off and the miter lock lever was stuck in the down position.

Just got off the phone with a VP from Milwaukee. Took about 20 minutes to move up the chain. Explained this entire terrible customer service/tool experience. Fed Ex is picking up this abortion tomorrow and a brand new saw is being shipped out today. Still no guarantee that the slide issue has been resolved. On a positive note, the 8.0 battery arrived today and I asked for another, that's also being shipped today. Replacement #3 better be right or I'm gonna lose my shit.

That is absolutely amazing! Would have liked to listen in on that conversation. Surprised you didn’t push for a 12ah battery

I tried for the 12 but that saw comes with an 8, so that's what they would give me. As pissed as I was, I'm generally pretty cordial with these conversations. I think if you go in yelling and screaming, they just kinda don't take it as serious. I told him all the people I've spoken with have been very nice and helpful, but something in the process is broken. He actually proposed sending me a battery (again). He wasn't aware I had just received one. New saw (I insisted on brand new in factory packaging) was shipped from a closer distribution center soon after getting off the phone with him.

    :fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed:

If this next one still has the issue with the slide, I'm going to buy one around here and if it's good, I'll return the bad one and get a refund.
