I recently purchased a project truck for my son first set of wheels a 1995 Tacoma, Reg cab , 4WD , M/T, with a 2.7L 4-CYL DOHC EFI ENGINE. Been working on it together trying to get her right. I am looking for a IAC valve. Some Toyota web pages say part number 22270-75040 will work on the truck but dealer says 22270-75020 is the correct part. My question is since 22270-75020 is discontinued by Toyota would 22270-75040 work? Any help with this from the experience on this sight would be much appreciated.

    Welcome to the forum!!

Depends on if the part # has been superseded by another number. Some dealer parts people are lost after vehicles are 5 years old. Let alone 28 years old.

What number do you get using Your VIN to search at your favorite online Toyota parts dealer.

Is the original engine still in the Truck??

    Bivouac / Area51runner,
It is the original motor in the truck. When I search Toyota parts .com it says 22270-75040 will work off vin. But when I go to camelback it says it will not work off vin it needs to be 22270-75020. The production line date on the truck was 05/95. Doing more research looks like part number 22270-75020 is for production line vehicles from 01/95 to 08/95 and 22270-75040 is from 09/95 to 2000. I am wondering if 22270-75040 would still work on truck due to toyota parts saying it will. Just hate to spend that kind of money and it does not. They both use the same gasket just wonder what is the difference internally.
Thanks for your assistance Area51runner and Bivouac.

For a part that expensive I would not want to guess .

Have you looked for a used one at all ?? I guess you have not removed the throttle body to see what part number is on your IAC

Just what is wrong with yours. It is needing replaced ?? Have you tried cleaning?

The only major difference is just how the electrical connection might be wired.

Ignore what you're seeing from camelback. If parts.toyota.com says its applicable then I would trust their site info over a parts counter site (even though you would think they're pulling from the same DB).

Head over to parts.toyota.com and enter your VIN then drill down to the part. See if its the same (22270-75040).

    Bivouac / Area51runner,
We plan on taking the throttle body off first chance we get. We will clean the throttle body itself and IAC while we have it disconnected. I will also test the IAC. Just looking into a replacement product just incase it is bad or if we damage it during cleaning. The truck had a high idle when we first got it and some oil leaks from the original owner. We have changed the valve cover and oil pump cover gaskets and fixed the oil leaks. Changed PCV valve and vacuum lines. About to change the engine coolant sensor when we do throttle body cleaning. The truck runs good got the idle down but sometimes the idle stays high after letting off the accelerator or at cold start once at operational temp and if u tap the accelerator it will drop back to normal. We appreciate all the info and knowledge we can get.
    Thanks

    22270-75020 is for 1995.
    22270-75040 is for 1996-2000.

They look identical externally, but I am not sure on their functional compatibility.

Check your throttle Cable the Area where it goes through the fire wall .

The linkage on the throttle body .

If it was a IAC problem tapping the pedal will not do anything .

You have a Mechanical issue something hanging up .

Might be the throttle body shaft is worn and hanging up.
