it's up to each owner to decide: risks and rewards.
I don't "get it" but it's not my truck, OP asked, others stated.

I had a warranty claim denied by the dealer because of a pedal commander... and the issue was unrelated.

3.5 lift, 315/75-16, DIY hybrid front bumper, skids, sliders, ditch lights, hood struts, tailgate lock, bed rack, custom exhaust, horn meant for an actual truck, neoprene seat covers
3.5" Lift and no notable issues with my front radar here. Cruise control keeps me spaced same as pre-lift based on radar and braking warning works same too, damn Phx traffic idiots for proving that too often...

They cannot deny warranty if the mods did not affect the breakage, but they can say that your larger tires added more stress to the transmission. And then you have to prove otherwise. Not worth the hassle. Ultimately, it is risk vs reward.

Warranty? At 2,000 miles a year you are going to be looking at your truck more than driving it. I would roll the dice and do what I wanted to my truck. But that's me, don't listen to me.

What are you doing that needs a 3.5" lift, on road and for only 2000 miles a year? Serious question.

I am lifted 3.5” and never had an issue with warranty. Though my warranty wasn’t drive train related. It comes down to your dealership and your relationship with them. If they are buttholes they will say so but they get payed from Toyota and I’m sure they appreciate the money and work. Now if Toyota or who ever your extended warranty is with may send out an inspector and then you may be screwed. All of my trucks are lifted and some not emission compliant but I’ve personally never had an issue.

The dealer can deny anything they want. The reality of it is once you exhaust going up the food chain with dealership management and/or Toyota Customer Care, your only alternative is to file a Mag-Moss action in Federal Court. The first retainer check you write your attorney will likely exceed the cost of most any repair you'd take it in for. So should they deny it? No, of course not. Can they? Yes, because a service manager with half a brain who wants to be a dick knows the reality of the dollars involved.
^^ This. It all depends on your dealer and what kind of relationship you have.

It’s all subject to interpretation. I’m just relaying my interactions. I have never had an issue. If an ac breaks they will deny fixing it due to a lift.. I think they would lose that battle in litigation.

Yea a lot of company’s make them. Rough country, iron man, old man emu, etc. pretty much new A arms, springs with struts and either blocks or leaf springs in the rear. The 3.5” will come with a drop differential drop

Maybe it's the same reason people lower cars that they drive sparingly and never bring to the race track. It looks cool.

Yeah I ruined my truck about 80,000 miles ago. I'm still ruining it by adding stuff all the time.
