Nice finds! All super nice choices. I wish I jumped on the Combat when I had it in my hands. Sellers were dicks, so I passed on it that go around on principal. Next time thou, I will buy it.

 

The place I bought mine from had another one in stock. They’re a national range chain (Range USA), so I’m sure it would be available online.

 

I recently bought a new (old) stock for one of the K98s my grandfather brought back from WWII. It was duffel cut and over the years, the top hand guard and front portion of the stock were lost. It's non-import marked, but not numbers matching (bolt doesn't match in any of the ones he brought back).

Anyway, the stock was clearly soaked in some kind of oil. Probably linseed oil? Does anyone know how to get the smell and the tacky feel of oil off of the stock without ruining it?

Picture because. I also bought a reproduction sling and cleaning rod to finish it off.

 

it’s probably soaked in cosmoline. They dunk milsurp stuff in it to prevent rust when stored for long times.

 

Mineral spirits take off cosmoline.

Finally put my new Explorr .30 on the Sig 716I and it feels good, might try to shoot it sometime this week.


And picked up a threaded life card on a whim, I only have 2 rimfire cans right now so I put a checkmate QD adapter on it for now, kinda want to get a Bowers Bitty and maybe a SiCo Sparrow to have also.

 

So the lines have been 100’s people deep and beyond since the bill passed you don’t need a pistol purchase permit to buy a hand gun in NC. Approval rate has been 2 in every 10 applicants.

 

When you say 2 in 10 approved, do you mean the other 8 are denied because they fail the background check?

 

That’s wonky as hell. I just moved up to NC, but still retain u Ga license. I will say that the laws here up until recently have me looking sideways.
Seemed as though I had to have written permission to buy a handgun here, unless I had a carry permit?

Agreed. Florida just passed what they are calling Constitutional Carry (in reality it is permitless CCW). The downside is with a permit there is no waiting period when purchasing a firearm. By getting rid of permits it will mean I won't be able to walk out the same day when I want to buy a gun. When you consider most of the shops I go to are an hour or more away (local shops here are stupid expensive or just stupid) this is going to put a serious dent into any new acquisitions.

 

To be fair, Californian’s make it seem like you have to be a lawyer to be a gun owner.

 

Florida didn't "get rid of" concealed carry permits. You just don't need one to carry concealed anymore.

 

Do you know if NICS checks are taking any longer from all this activity?
