I would drop the leaf pack, go with OME, and put monies towards rims and tires...new mud terrains. Only say that cause the 3g number.

^x2. If he isn't going offroading a lot and doesn't need adjustable ride height, you should get him OME coils (886 most likely if he has an aftermarket front bumper) with bilstein shocks for the front. Adjustable coilovers are nice but pricey at about 1k. You don't need to buy upper control arms but it is also nice to have. If you have a lot of money then buy the best and call it a day, else I recommend the following:

    OME 886 coils+Bilstein adjustable shocks= 500 bucks
275 or 285/75/16(might rub a little) All Terrain Tires (BF Goodrich, Nitto, Hankook, General) = 800 bucks

Super happy camper! You may want to shop tires with him because he might prefer a certain look or how aggressive a tread pattern would be good. More aggressive tread=worse gas mileage.

The rear lift depends on what he uses the truck for if he carries heavy loads, normal or needs soft springs for added offroad travel.

def. go for the OME kit.. and then get him tires and wheel spacers with the money you saved. A good AT tire in a 285 shouldnt run you any higher then $800.

the leaf pack replaces the entire stock one, and will give a great ride and add lift. but I think if he doesnt offroad much, then a single AAL(add-a-leaf) will do fine... it will ride a little stiffer but it aint that bad...

Thank you! If I go this route... would it be easier just to call toytec and say this? lol I have a feeling trying to find this exact thing will leave me lost, as I have no idea what you are talking about. Other then I know the last one is tires ;)

If i were you i would call them up and just tell them you want the OMe 3" lift kit with Light Racing UCA's.
def. get the OME shocks not the bilsteins.... they will ride better with the OME coils...
    good luck!

New all terrain 285's would be in the 900 range most likely, and wheels (if you decide on wheels... lets you skip those $200 Spidertrax spacers) would be in the $600-800 neighborhood depending on size/brand/finish. If you go with aftermarket wheels, look for a 4.5" backspacing spec(will clear the UCA with larger tires) and 6 on 5.5" wheel bolt pattern to fit the truck.

For the lift, I believe Wheeler's Off-road would treat you right, be helpful, and get you the right lift setup for the truck.
    Id run:
-OME front struts and rear shocks
    -OME 886 coil springs
    -Light Racing UCA's
-Wheeler's 3 leaf AAL for the back
-OME drive shaft carrier bearing drop spacers

Tell them you were recommended by guys on TacomaWorld and they'll probably give a discount. They always gave me a discount of 10% or so when I went there in the past.

Oh, and I'd skip on the Bilstein 5100 shocks... they are valved for stock springs, the heavier duty OME spings would overwhelm them a bit and give a rougher, and bouncier ride in comparison to the OME's designed to work specifically with their springs.

This is exactly what I was thinking. I have to remember to play my wife next time I have a question that I think I'll get bashed for asking :).

I think the roles are reversed here though she got a brand new Coach wallet and matching Purse for valentines day inside the wallet was a custom made birthstone pendant with our 3 kids stones and inside the purse was a Bulova stainless steel diamond accented watch. Wallet was delivered in the morning with a mix flower bouquet and the purse in the afternoon with roses. Along with other small little gifts throughout the day.

I might get bashed just for saying that LOL :)

Hey she gave me 3 awesome boys and stayed by my side through out my hospital stay after having a heart attack at age 30 only 3 months ago.

K I call wheelers. He said the price for everything listed about would be 805.13. Does that sound right?

Also he suggested not doing the 3 leaf since Chris carries a lot of weight in the back. He suggested the single leaf?
Which brought the price to 732.68

He also said it would be about 80.00 shipping.

    Is this a good deal?

tons of good info here. im not of much help im still learning too. very nice wife!

for tires i would suggest 33 inch bfg all terrain on a black wheel. you might also want to try 32 inch bfg so you wont rub.

WOW it is funny but someone else already mentioned it, all the responses. If some newb DUDE had posted the same question (minus the buying for someone part) he would have gotten something like *SEARCH*

    You guys are sexist.

Either way this thread is full of good info, and should be made a sticky...but of course there is already stickies on all this stuff.

and you are an awesome wifey by the way. :) I hope I find a woman like you. :D

that seems a little cheap for it to include new ucas, and removing the leaf pack was only a $70 difference? something is amiss.
