Had my 23 for a week. Window tint, k02s, and lift. First mid-size truck I've had and loving it. Removed the predator steps as well.

Right now, 2.5 in the front. It got a little lean that really bothers me. I'm hoping it settles. but if not I've got a 1.5 block for the back.

I have a 2012 GMC Sierra Crew Cab Z71 4x4 that I love dearly, but my wife mostly took it over and claims it as hers (lets me drive it once in a while, but makes it very clear. LOL). It has 110,000 miles on it and runs like it's new. I'm coming from an MX-5 Miata as a daily, so quite a drastic change for me.

I just took delivery of my 2023 SR5 Double Cab V6 4x4 in magnetic gray metallic last Weds. I had an access cab PreRunner 4 banger around 1996 or so and drove that around for a few years, but that was the last Toyota truck I owned. I love my new truck. It is everything I wanted, and I already knew coming in that people called them "old school", "long in the tooth" and complained about the transmission at times. I test drove extensively before I bought it. This truck is amazingly quiet and smooth. And the SR5 trim was what I sought out because of the suspension setup. I never off road. We bought the GMC with 4WD and never used it with the exception of the occasional snow in southeast Virginia. I'm very aware that these new Tacomas with 4WD need to be used in 4WD once a month or so in the right conditions (straight road if conditions aren't suitable to actually use 4WD) or the solenoids start sticking and other problems result.

What I'm most happy with is the look of the truck. There's just something about Tacomas that is hard to describe. They definitely have character and stand out from the rest. I just put on a Tonneau, the step rails, and some cheap neoprene seat covers (until I find the ones I really want). I just blacked out the emblems last night and don't have any good pictures yet. Looking forward to spending a long time with this truck.

AND...if this is the last year of putting the 3.5 V6 in these trucks, they'll become even that much more valuable on the used market if I decide to trade in the future.

Before I received my truck (I already had a deposit down), I came to the forum looking for information. After reading the forum for about a month prior to the truck arriving, I was starting to have major regrets. A large portion of the forum is just about problems with the Tacoma. It sounded like most were not happy. After about 1 month of ownership, I couldn’t be happier with my Tacoma. It isn’t a sports car, nor a luxury car, but for some reason I enjoy driving it every day. I don’t know what it is but if feels like it’s solid and everything works like it should. It just feels like it’s not trying to be all those things it just does what it’s supposed to and looks tough and to my eye a damn good looking truck right out the box.

Yes, these trucks are not for everyone. However, I was telling you in your previous posts that this place can be a negative echo chamber at times. Also filled with awesome, knowledgeable folks as well. So glad to hear that you didn’t run away and decided to proceed with your purchase.

Nothing is perfect and you and or others may have an issue in the future but that seems to be in the minority.

The 3rd gen is hugely popular. There are apparently about 1.8 million of them out there.

    Enjoy your new truck!

My SR5 Double Cab came with Firestone Destination LE2's on it. Been using those for years on my 2012 GMC Sierra and like them very much.

My second Tacoma is expected to be here in a week or so. Toyota makes fine vehicles and have great reliability. When I had may 2nd Gen 2011 everyone was bashing on the 2nd Gen saying first Gen was superior. To me it appears each Gen has some good parts and flaws and if a vehicle has more plus tan minus to the driver it’s a win.

Wife is a German car driver mostly vw. This time she got a Golf R. She was a little sad it wasn’t in manual tran but she’ll manage. On thing weird about that car is that most of the controls are on the touchscreen. Point being : we get used to what we drive !

Brother let me tell you. I had a 2003 heavy duty Silverado that I bought in 2005 and drove for 16 years. I thought I loved that truck, but I had to fix or replace everything in just the first 100k. Made me resentful at the quality of American car company integrity.
And then I bought my TE... it was only the 2nd time my wife and I had ever purchased a new vehicle and the 1st time was my wife's car. When I test drove the TE I literally got chills in the 1st quarter mile, turned around and bought it. It has been a lifetime coming ( I'm 53, kids all grown). I love this truck. I made a few changes to make it more me. It's weird but I tell my wife that I feel like a better person when I'm driving it.
I feel like I'm talking about a new love affair. I was recently reading about the Chevy Colorado with 2.7 turbo engine, 310 hp, 400 fp torque and lockers fronts and rear and I had not an ounce of regret I bought this Tacoma.

How long have people on here been waiting past their "build dates"? Mine was supposed to be built on 3/20/23, it's now 3/31/23 and no updates from the dealer or Toyota-tracker.com. It's not on hold or anything, just no updates at all. Curious about others' experiences.

I had a similar experience. I had quite a long wait between putting a deposit down and actually receiving my truck. While waiting, I would somewhat regularly visit TW to read up on various topics. At one point I was having some serious doubts and second thoughts about buying a Tacoma after reading so many negative threads.

Before putting a deposit down, I spent quite a bit of time deciding between a Ranger, Frontier, and Tacoma. So, it was a little frustrating to doubt my decision after going through that process. I have had my Tacoma now for almost 2 months and I have zero regrets. Very happy with my purchase. Looking forward to many years of ownership.

11F165DB-2295-485C-AE65-72AA4697B99C.jpg Finally got my truck! Double Cab SR V6 4x4 to replace my 2009 Regular Cab 4Cylinder 4x4.

What a wait; hopefully I won’t be buying a new one until the buying process changes for the better. The whole “decide what you want, find a dealership that is allocated what you want, put a deposit down, wait months, unknown delivery date, truck gets stuck in transit, truck finally shows up weeks later than you needed it” thing is a complete racket and I probably had a fairly easy process in comparison to others’.

That being said, I love the truck immensely and cannot complain about how my dealership handled the entire process. Glad to have the last of the V6 Tacomas and a great truck that will serve me and my girls well. Mods to come!

I am pretty sure the buying process will remain the same if Toyota has any say. They like it this way. No inventory anywhere all their vehicles pre-sold. It ain’t ever going back.
