Do you think it’s totaled?

So I was in accident this morning. I was turning left and a guy ran a red light. My 20 month old son was in a rear facing car seat in the back. Luckily we’re both okay with no injuries! Question for you guys, do you think she’s totaled or is it repairable? The wheel on the front passenger is also bent in a little bit too.

No but I had similar damage and it was around 15k in repairs. Make sure they replace the steering rack. If it got hit hard enough to bend the knuckle like that the rack also felt the hit.

Glad you and your boy are OK! Red light running has become an epidemic, at least down here in the Atlanta area where I live.

And pretty sure they can fix that and it will be just fine when they are done.

Looks fixable but depends on what the insurance company will want to do. I've seen some be totaled with bare damage

Another poster shows a hood inverted and strongly dented the roof structure members. That is an older model truck. The insurance company totaled that.

Older truck, structural damage ... not impossible to "total".

You have a newer truck. If the others are correct about just a couple of corner suspension bits and some body panel work is all ... I would think not.

Thanks guys yeah this was my first real accident before. Kind of startled me and I definitely had some choice words for the other driver. We’ll see what the insurance wants to do. The other guy admitted to the police that he ran a red light so that’s good at least. And I’m taking it to caliber collision. They’re really good and are pretty expensive but that doesn’t matter because I won’t be paying a dime! And for the time being, my insurance is covering me in a 4Runner rental!

Glad you're both ok. Only way I see that as totaled is if the frame got tweaked. You said the passenger side front wheel was bent too, so....
Needs to go on the frame rack for some measurin' for sure.

If they choose to fix make sure you are compensated for diminished value based on market value not blue book. But being a 2022 I would fight for it to be replaced with new. And don't ever state you are fine, make sure to see your doctors and document how you feel for the near future. Even physiologically and emotionally. You don't want something to develop down the road. Will you develop a fear of intersections, will you be stressed out when your son is in the vehicle for a fear for his safety for example.

We’re actually taking my son to urgent care. He’s been at my in laws while I was taking care of everything and I guess he didn’t really have a good nap and has been crying practically most of the day.

Other people suck. Hope you and your son are ok. It’s tough with little ones cause they can’t tell you if they feel something.

As for the truck, only take it to Toyota dealer for repairs

Not questioning going to urgent care but I would be going to an ER somewhere where he can be evaluated for head injuries. Even a mild concussion can be serious and last a while with lingering issues. Just make sure to push for the most comprehensive evaluation you can. Unfortunately, today's health care system is so controlled by the insurance industry and the constraints they put on doctors.

Glad you’re OK but as said above get your son and yourself checked out more then once. In the last 2 days I have watched 3 people run red lights it’s becoming the norm kinda scary.
