My parents have one of the new Taurus SHOs... a lot of fun to drive! One of the most comfortable, fastest cars I have ever driven anyway

One thing I havent seen mentioned that I would like to see is lock out hubs. I know on my '90 pickup I picked up 2 mpg when I change from drive flanges to lock out hubs. Ian just explained this on Extreme 4x4. Thats a lot of resistance being pushed down the road.

my guess is 2013, and will look like 4runner and have the updated v6. that means "americanized" interior and buttons, fugly headlights and tailights with sticking out lenses ala (4runner, accord, etc.) same old whip screw in antenna (thank god for cravenspeed ;p) and same old usual skinny tires on base models. and yes it'll weigh more doh...:D

The new 4runner interior is NICE!

But I agree that update= weight more, most of the time.

They need to stop offering the 4clyd. If they offered the V6 in the Regular Cabs and 2 wheels drives, Toyota would be able to boast higher MPGs, without changing anything. With more power in those lighter trucks, they could easily see 2-4 MPG increases.

Despite what people may see in pictures, the head lights and tails do not stick out. Its actually more of an illusion, the wheel well is the widest part of the vehicle and it would be damn near impossible to take a light out without also removing a fender.

Billy 5100's all around. Otherwise, the truck is OLD and STOCK.
The new 4runner headlight styling is sick. IMO, a Tacoma would look badass with them. Some posts say it will also be heavier. Does anyone know if wheelbase or width dimensions increase?

So why is this thread in 2nd gen if we're talking about upcoming 3rd gen trucks. Doesn't make sense at all

According to someone at Toyota, it's scheduled for 2012, which is why I bought my first gen now, waiting for the new gen. I'm looking forward to it, I love the general 4 runner styling, so I'm hopeful. Unfortunately, they're recently retired now and don't work there anymore... that was about a year ago and could theoretically pushed out.
