I can't say that I'm looking forward to doing this.

It's not the funnest fluid, but it's not the worst part of the 60k gauntlet either.

I found the spark plugs to be the worst so far. Those suck.

I’ve done 3 of them this year. My 15 Tacoma, my 17 4Runner, and my 16 GX460. What makes it easy is a scanner that reads temps, (2 trans oil temps) and a Motive fluid pump. I used Toyota WS from Amazon. 4 Rhino ramps to get them up and level.

Sshh! Don’t remind me those are coming up too.

But yeah the flush is super easy. Just takes forever. Thankfully ATF is super thin so pumping is easy. My front diff I used Lucas dino oil and it took maybe 20 minutes to pump the fluid in.

I was so close to buying one of those pump things. After doing it if I could go back in time I’d buy it instead of the slippery Pete thing.

Oh lastly…I don’t know if it was old oil or mine was low but it shifts so much better. No more clunk into gear. Just a smooth shift. RPM barely changes.

I've got a motive brake bleeder; good idea.

edit: looks like the motive power fill is slightly different. Probably going to stick with the slippery Pete hand pump I already have.

Yeah I hate that bottle pump. It doesn't even fit on the wide mouth bottles that the trans fluid came in.

I'm trying a different pump for the second drain/fill this weekend. The slippery Pete can be demoted to diff duty.

if you had to do 3 transmissions, and all the diffs you’d get one. haha

I did my pumping from the jug thing I posted. Drain out whatever and refill with the same amount. Last fill I did an extra half quart. So slippery Pete sucked for how how I was using it.

Oh big time. Just one transmission is enough. Would be really nice to measure what you need and pour it into that pump thing instead of either a jug or swapping out bottles.

Since I used redline on a lot of stuff the pump didn’t fit in those narrow neck bottles.

Overfill a quart and let it dribble out when running at temp. Saves you having to do procedure again if it happens to be underfilled from factory.

I ordered the motive power fill last night. Those slippery Pete pumps seemed to work intermittently when I did the diffs and transfercase.
Which trans temp reader are you using or do you recommend? I'm aware of the Scanguage SG2 Ultra.

I don’t know about the scan gauge but I threw away the slippery pete. Didn’t want to clean it. :spending:

    I’m guessing that’s the 1 gallon pump ?

Yeah, 2 gallon is taller. I figured it would be easier to refill the 1 gallon as needed rather than fight the taller 2 gallon container working under the vehicle. Guess I find out soon enough.

I bought an OBII reader and used the torque app. You have to add the PIDs bu there are directions in one of the transmission threads here. Cheap and easy

I got the Foxwell. It has extra capabilities for Toyota and Lexus. I think you can get them for different makes too. Works great.

Does that have brake solenoid actuation capability for bleeding?
