Just ordered the JVC KW-NT3HDT kit from Crutch and looking for advise on self install or a pprofessional. I am comfortable doing this, just don't want to get in over my head and have to find a dealer to fix my mess.
This will be with the sterring wheel control/BT and navigation wiring...
Any help and advise greatly appreciated on getting this done.

    Thx

Should be pretty much plug and play, and pretty simple, Someone will chime in that has done this.

it all depends on your knowledge on 12+ electronics. It is not a hard install at all if you have even a little bit of experience in the area. If you aren't 100% confident then I would not try it. A good car audio shop shouldn't charge you more then $100-$150 to install everything, but if you try and fail it will cost you more. My companies policy is if its a fresh install its a set price, but if someone tries it first and doesn't complete it we charge $50 to uninstall everything and bench test everything then the initial charge to install it assuming nothing was damaged by the customer...You may have some luck asking someone on here that can help you, a lot of these guys will help you out for some beers and a few slices.

^ Bam. If your second guessing just take it somewhere and have it done, then you wont have anything o worry about.

After seeing the threads here on install, I think I can handle this..just some questions:
I have the steering wheel controls and ordered the Metra Axxess ASWC Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface..is this easy to install..any threads going over this here?
Where does everyone stick the GPS attenna..I don't want it outside the vehicle, so looking at the dash in the corner..does this interfer with reception?
As for the BT mike..anyone able to route to the overhead near the lights without any issues?

I am guessing since this HU has the usb on the front, I don't need the IPOD cable during the install since there are no connectors for it on the back.

    Thx

Does anyone know if the scoche faceplate from Crutch is textured silver or just smooth silver. I would like to keep the textured look that came with the truck.

    Thx

Many have done it with their Pioneer HU, the link above in another post tells how. However, it won't work unless you already have the rear view mirror with back-up display. The mirror/display powers the back-up camera. The camera uses 6 Volts, not 12 Volts, so you can't just hook up 12 Volts to power it.

Here are 6 Quick Tips off the top of my head.

    #1: kill the battery
#2: Do 1 thing at a time, then Test. requires lot of battery un plug plug in, but it's worth it. 1 thing at a time man... otherwise you turn it on, something's Fukked and you don't know what it was. I know 1 dude that fried his shiz by not unplugging juice.
#3: JVC Tip (I have kamelion Single Din) Get an extra wire, my JVC's have worked quite well grounding the ebrake (green) bypass.. That way you can illegally and dangerously have video on while driving. Run it down by driver's feet, there's some screws down there you can ground to
#4: get some cable ties, gonna be a snug fit
#5: if installing steering wheel interface. do that separate, see #2
#6: Sound Deaden thangs for optimal performance. RAAMMat / ensolite is my choice

Thx for all the help...next is speaker upgrade.
For now I want to swap the door speakers with some new quality ones.
Looking for clear sound with bass and want to be able to just pull the old ones and plug in the new ones. I will add sound deadner to the doors also.
In the next 6 months I will and amps/sub and rewire, but for now just the doors. Budget for the doors speakers and install kits is 500.00.

On another note..been looking at full kits from *********..any thoughts on these?
Will the new door speakers be damages in any way running them off the new JVC HU and stock wires? Don't want to spend the money and have them damaged.

    Thx
