Back in 2020 pretty sure I bought 6 cans of rp-342 for under $90 plus free shipping to Connecticut.

I used the CRC product and purchased 12 can on Amazon - used 8. I did much more than just the frame and likely applied more than needed but that’s my usual tactic. CRC is chemically the same as RP-342 in a 10oz can so which ever is cheaper per oz makes sense. One plus for the RP-342 is you can get it in black if you’d like.

My tacoma was done with their amber rp-342. After a day or 2 being done it looks like black on a new chassis. To this day I swear it was done with black.

It sounds like I would be happy with either and may go with the cosmo only since there is a shop near me that does it. But I will update with whatever I end up doing.

Cosmoline is my favorite, a very durable coating.:thumbsup:

Fluid Film has worked great for me on multiple vehicles. I drive through tons of sand with no issues.

looking for a 360 wand extension - to coat inner frame parts - that fits onto PB Surface Shield aerosol can and doesn't cost an arm and a leg - any recommendations?

If you want protection that isn't sticky, see if there is a local shop that applies Noxudol. There are a couple formulations for different areas of the vehicle: there is a cavity wax version (which I understand is similar to Cosmoline); and a version that dries completely for use on frame, underside, wheel wells, etc. It will NOT trap water/salt like a traditional rubberized undercoating (or rhino liner). Noxudol is popular in Europe, and Toyota used it as part of the whole frame recall debacle.

When I asked my dealer here back a few months ago about toyota using noxudol on tacoma frames, they never heard of it. They told me they are now using a crc product inside those boxed frame sections.

you can try all you want but, in the end all the spray can nozzles with the small hose, make a huge mess, spewing out from under the spray cap, and all over you, and the floor. Guessing it is the viscosity of the product causing too much pressure for the can to nozzle interface, for the size of the hose, and end spray tip. I have tried several, even the one from kellsport supposedly for thicker wool wax... same outcome... Messy.

your results may vary. I would love to find one too. good luck! Ski

I'm sure the CRC stuff is great on boxed-in sections. Lots of good stuff available for that. But not many options for coating the outside of the frame if you want to avoid stickiness or cause other issues down the road.
Or you could do what my dad does... Just drive it on the beach without any rust protection and buy a new one every 8-10 years. :)

I don't recall having any of those problems when using the 360 degree nozzle. I put it on a can of WD40 to flush it out after use.

Wool Wax or Fluid Film. Works great. Annual application for no rust. None.

Post a link to which nozzle you have for your cans? male or female connection to can. some are switching trying to stop the leakage. Ski

I got the nozzle from Kellsport back when they were selling Fluid Film. I used it on my 2016 when it was new and I know I used it with both Amsoil HD metal protector and with Fluid Film.
